Now that President Barack Obama has added the “Agony of Defeat” to the American experience after his humiliating performance in Copenhagen, the American people need to determine if this man has the judgment and ability to handle responsibilities more substantive than giving flowery speeches.
He may look and sound terrific on television, but is Obama the one who should be deciding the fate of 300 million Americans and all of the free world?
Can Barack Obama, having shown that he cannot handle a simple matter like the Olympics, be trusted to serve as Commander-in-chief of the world’s lone super power?
Specifically, if Obama comes in fourth in a battle of wits with Madrid, Tokyo, and Rio on a pedestrian issue like the 2016 Olympics, does he have the intelligence, toughness of mind, soundness of judgment, and killer instinct needed to trade punches with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Kim Yong Il? Osama bin Laden? Vladimir Putin?
Can a man who relies on an aging, over weight television talk show host rather than on his own Secretary of State be expected to grasp the complexities and dangers of his war in Afghanistan?
Can a man who wastes a million dollars of taxpayer money on a wild goose chase in Denmark be trusted to keep the U.S. federal deficit from exploding even further, thereby driving this nation into a debtors’ prison run by China?
These vital questions all lead up to the really big question: Can America survive until November of 2010 at which time this president can be broken by removing his liberal brethren and sisters from the U.S. Congress?

It amazes me how upset the American people can be at having a president who is trying to do something for the country. President Bush wouldn’t give a damn if we got the Olympics or not unless it put some money directly into his pocket. Obama was gone for a day and people talk about the health care issue being ignored. It takes the Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats longer than that to read the bill. George Bush spent the combined equivalent of 3 years on vacation (officially) unofficially, it was more like 8. If you think he would have made any type of effort to bring the Olympics anywhere in the U.S. except Texas, then Mr. Lollipop you are a sucker.
Aurthur, I think from reading your response that you suffer from two very typical left wing ailments. The first is Bush Derangement Syndrome where you think former President Bush is evil and a buffoon because it helps you cope with life. The second is Obama Worship Disorder where you think that Obama actually has good intentions and a clue. These are obvious because of your ramblings.
Let’s be serious for a moment and ditch the left wing hysteria over the messiah being rejected. J.J. Jackson spelled out exactly what was wrong with the Chicago bid in the first place in his posting Some Shit Just Cannot Be Polished. Chicago should never have been picked as a host city for consideration because it is so corrupt politically, defunct economically and has a murder rate that rivals third world banana republics. No one would seriously consider this city for an Olympic games in its current state.
Yes, you think that it is Bush that wouldn’t do anything unless it put money in his pocket eh? Hate to break this to you there boy-o but the only reason Obama was involved at the last minute with the Chicago bid was because all of the corrupt political officials he has worked with over the years needed his help because they wanted to make some money. The people of the city would have not benefited from the games. Only the corrupt pols from the area of which Obama is one of.
So take off you blinders and realize that you are the biggest, and truest, sucker of them all for you have fallen for the Obama is clean as the wind driven snow fallacy which keeps people like you in line behind him. Seek medical attention quickly!
That article you site libertarian price, while crude, is basically right on. Chicago is a choice no one but a liberal fool would make. The city is a cruel joke on America and whomever honestly thought it was a good choice should be fired from the US Olympic Committee. If Obama seriously thought that that Chicago was worth fighting for then he is a bigger fool than I previously thought!
