Vanishing Governor Creates Media Firestorm While Vanishing America Garners Little Interest

J.J. Jackson | June 24, 2009

It is coming. At 2pm South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is going to address the media with regards to his audacity to take a little respite without daring to inform the media exactly where he was going so that they could blurb it on their sites and in their papers. Yes, the saga of the vanishing governor has certainly generated a lot of media attention by the media themselves trying to get answers as to why they were not kept continually informed as to exactly what Governor Sanford was doing at every given moment. They were going through withdrawal not being told what cereal he ate for breakfast and what color his latest poop was apparently.

Let us recap some important facts. The legislative session in South Carolina is over. That means no bills for the Governor to sign so he was not needed for this. It is not a time of year when hurricanes are going to potentially be slamming into the coast of the state and the Governor would not be needed to roll out emergency supplies. The people of South Carolina are, in general, adults. This means that they do not need their Governor to constantly tell them what to do so he was not needed for this either. There has also been a huge deal made about the fact that he chose to go somewhere, again without telling the media, over Father’s Day. As though Father’s Day were some sort of important holiday for people other than golf courses, greeting card companies and restaurants flooded with siblings trying to show some appreciation to the man who not only brought them into this world but can also take them out of it. Apparently he changed his mind about hiking the Appalachian Trail or (the horror) purposefully lied to his staff because he knew that they would not be able to keep a secret from the ever vigilant (sarcasm intended) media when pressed.

Now we have a media created scandal on our hands. Yes, barring anything short of Mr. Sanford stepping up to the microphones shortly and saying that he was visiting his South American Mistress (which I actually do believe he will), that is all that we have. Maybe I will be surprised and learn that this is actually what he was doing and laud the press for their vigilance in tracking him down and getting to the heart of it all. We shall see.

Yes, the media is all over Governor Sanford for daring to vanish. Yet at the same time they are nearly silent, if not complicit (ABC I mean you), as America is vanishing before our eyes. The government is taking over private industry and seeking control of health care beyond the powers granted to them in the U.S. Constitution. Our government has spend billions of dollars to pay off companies that do not deserve to survive after making bad business choices. Our debt is ballooning.

And Mark Sanford is the hot story? Hey Mainstream Media! What about the case of the vanishing country we used to call the United States where liberty once existed? How about covering that story and demanding that our leaders answer the hard questions on that issue huh?

    You nailed it!

Good call on the marital infidelity.

Good call on how the media needs to be this vigilant at keeping up on the liberals in charge of this country right now too!

Another case of a blind squirrel finding a nut! The media had no idea that the Governor was cheating on his wife and stumbled blindly on it by drumming up a controversy over a governor taking some time off.

I’m kinda with you on this. The initial story was BS but in the end they found out something useful and unrelated.

  4. Dutch on June 24th, 2009 1:39 pm

Did you actually have a source that told you he was a cheating low life or was that just a guess?

Now the media will focus on Sanford for the next week as the liberals continue to destroy America. Good timing you scumbag!

Little bitty birdy tipped me off a while ago on this but I didn’t have any real evidence until this whole series of events began.

Everyone needs to understand I am not excusing his actions for what he has done to his wife. Merely pointing out that the media doesn’t go this hard after issues of even greater importance.

Now you watch. The left will cruxify Sanford but still keep quiet about Edwards.

    Left’s response: “Edwards who?”

When you f-up you must fall. Sanford needs to be knocked down to private. We don’t need weak willed leaders unable to keep their Slick Willies in their pants!

Hey, speaking of Der Slickster, I wonder if the “Nuts and Sluts” defense would work here? Could Sanford just say that the woman “asked for it?”

Not that he should. Just saying it was a popular excuse for the left in the past.

“Mr. Sanford! Are you ashamed of what you have done?”

—- Card check gets through Congress while media distracted.

“Mr. Sanford! Are you and your wife going to get a divorce?”

—- Socialized health care gets rammed down our throats while media is huffing over Sanford.

“Mr. Sanford! Will you resign as Governor?”

—- More debt heaped upon our children as Sanford dominates the news.

Mr. Sanford you are scum on multiple fronts. First because of what you did to your wife. Second because of what you are going to allow to happen to this country!

Gee, another scumbag Republican that will allow the Democrats to be able to ignore all the scumbags in their party and point fingers of deflection!

  13. Posterior on June 24th, 2009 1:57 pm

Immagine if the media would spend this sort of energy on Obama’s missing birthcertificate? We might actually get somewhere!

  14. SCREWYOUGOPHACK on June 24th, 2009 2:01 pm

HA! YOU DUMBFUCK! THERE WAS MORE HERE THAN JUST THE GOVERNOR GOING AWAY WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE! YOU CANNOT DEFEND HIM NAD HIS CHEATING WAYS AND HE IS SCUM LIKE ALL THE REST OF THE REPUBS!

    HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    THE PARTY OF CORRUPTION LIVES!

  15. Libertarian Prince (Moderator) on June 24th, 2009 2:04 pm

Hey, “SCREWYOUGOPHACK” just a word of advice. You might want to actually read the post above before making such statements.

Mr. Jackson specifically said that he thought that Mr. Sanford was going to use this press conference to come clean about his affair which he had been previously tipped off about.

Oops. Sucks to be you huh? Showing everyone that you have talking points that don’t match the facts huh?

It is a conspiracy by Palin supporters to knock off the competition. :D

  17. Ms. Peacock on June 24th, 2009 2:22 pm

J.J. tell me that you haven’t cheated on your wife and that there are still conservative leaders worth their salt out there!

  18. J.J. Jackson on June 24th, 2009 2:26 pm

As I have often said, I am wholly unqualified to be a “leader” in politics because I have never lied under oath nor have I cheated on my wife who I love far to dearly to do such a thing to.

  19. Rugged Individual on June 24th, 2009 3:11 pm

    So should he step down?

  20. J.J. Jackson on June 24th, 2009 3:13 pm

Of course he should step down. He has proven untrustworthy and if he can’t be faithful to his wife then I don’t see how he can be faithful to any promises he makes.

I think i’ve seen this somewhere before…but it’s not bad at all
