UPDATE: The Most Ethical Administration In History
Carl Andrews | June 30, 2009
A few days ago, in response to a request from Erica, one of our loyal readers and supporters, we put together an article outlining some of the Broken Promises of Barack Obama.
We were all sitting around the office when Dan asked “Didn’t we do something that ties in with that awhile back?”
So we dug through the archives and sure enough, there it was.
Another campaign promise Barack Obama had made was that his White House would be “The most ethical administration in history!”
Well, take a look at we had come up with in response to that claim, and let us know if you feel, as we do, that this is just another example of one of Obama’s broken promises to the American people:
His original choice for Secretary of Commerce, Governor Bill Richardson, was removed from consideration after it was revealed that he was the subject of a grand jury investigation into government corruption.
His appointment for White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, has had many things said about himself.
Possible the politest was that the man was like a pit bull.
This is an individual who once mailed a dead fish to a political opponent.
Tim Geithner, appointed as Treasury Secretary, had a bit of a bump in the road when it was revealed he was a tax dodger.
After news reports brought to light the years of back taxes that he owed, Geither finally paid up, and got the job.
Seeing as how part of Geithner’s duties is overseeing the IRS, I’m a bit skeptial about the ethics issue on this one.
Mr. Obama also promised us that no lobbyists would serve in his administration.
Well, maybe he just forgot that Robert Gates was a lobbyist for Raytheon and that Mark Patterson was once a lobbyist for Goldman Sachs.
Nancy Killefer was tabbed to be Government Chief Performance Officer, until the news broke that she failed to perform her duty to pay taxes on her household help.
Leon Panneta, a man who was never registered as a lobbyist (although he should have been), has been picked to head the CIA.
So I guess it’s OK that if no one can prove any ethics violations against him, it’s alright to make Mr. Panneta the director of the CIA.
The fact that he has absolutely no experience in the intellegence community must not be viewed as a cause for concern.
Eric Holder has been selected to be Attorney General.
When he was involved in the last minute Presidential pardons of terrorists, as well as the pardon of fugitive and tax cheat Mark Rich during the waning days of the Clinton administration, these must not have been seen as ethical lapses.
Of course, during the Clinton years, I don’t think anything was considered unethical.
I could continue listing these “lapses in judgement by President Obama, but to do so would possibly leave me with carpal tunnel syndrome.
But I can’t wrap this up without giving a mention to one of the finest (insert sarcasm here) picks to be part of the Obama team.
David Ogden has been picked to be Deputy Attorney General.
David Ogden, a former attorney for the porno industry.
A man who has filed lawsuits aimed at allowing pornography in public libraries.
A man who filed (and won) a lawsuit forcing the Library of Congress to carry Playboy magazine in Braille!
So there you have it folks.
Millions of you voted for, and now can reap the benefits of, the Most Ethical Administration In History!
Feel better now?
