Tetris Over D-Day
J.J. Jackson | June 7, 2009
Well, Google is at it again. I would love to say that I can hardly believe it, but when put in the light of all their past actions, I am sad to so a I cannot.
With the world, at least the SERIOUS world, turning its attention to remembering the sacrifices of thousands of soldiers made on Jun 6th, 1944 to defeat NAZI Germany on D-Day, Google choose to celebrate Tetris. Yes, that is right, Tetris. Unable to bring themselves to honor the fallen Google featured a logo constructed of multi-colored blocks that spelled out the word good and representative of the popular game.
Like I said, I am not surprised. This is the same company that has allowed ads for liberal candidates in its popular Ad Words program but has promptly scrubbed the exact same ads for conservative causes and candidates when all that was changed was the name and not the actual description.
Considering that in the past it appears that the children at Google have overwhelmingly supported other liberal children for public office though, is it really any surprise that while the adults of the world remembered one of the most important moments in history that they were busy musing about the great feat of Tetris? It does not surprise me at all.
