President Obama And The Left Pissing Off The World

J.J. Jackson | June 8, 2009

Let’s revisit the “buy American” provision that liberals demanded be placed upon stimulus funds and which was pointed out to be idiotic by people like myself in a global market place. Well, the situation is getting worse. As President Obama talks a good game about how he is helping America by spending our grandchildren’s money, our children’s money has been long ago spent, American companies are facing backlash around the world by countries who don’t at all like having their goods shut out of the equation.

Two articles sent in to me by readers illustrate this point well. The first is from Breitbart:

The “Buy American” plan in US economic stimulus legislation is drawing increasing fire from US trading partners and also has led to confusion as government agencies try to implement the strategy.

Ironically, the measure is backfiring on some US firms that are being disqualified from contracts if they use non-American materials, and making it difficult to determine who can qualify, say some business leaders.

The plan was included by President Barack Obama’s administration in the nearly 800-billion-dollar US stimulus package adopted earlier this year that required projects funded with stimulus money to use only US-made steel, iron and manufactured goods.

Singapore was the latest among key US allies such as Canada and Japan to express concern over the restriction, warning that it could “beget other actions and then cause the situation to snowball in the wrong direction.”

The Buy American requirements were already facing retaliation from Canada and could cause job losses and decline in trade, essential to jolting the world’s largest economy from prolonged recession, warned the US Chamber of Commerce, a top business lobby of more than three million businesses and groups.

“The Buy American requirements are having a major impact on projects administered by state and local governments, resulting in declining trade and lost jobs for American workers,” US Chamber of Commerce vice president Bruce Josten said.

And now this … apparently the Canadians have fired the next salvo:

WHISTLER, British Columbia (AP) — Canadian mayors have passed a resolution that would potentially shut out U.S. bidders from local city contracts.

The resolution is in retaliation to “Buy American” provisions in President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill. Mayors voted 189-175 to approve the resolution at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Whistler, British Columbia.

Although this resolution is pending, giving the Canadian government time to negotiate a compromise with the Messiah, it is the inevitable conclusion to the protectionism of liberals who do not believe in the free market. If this situation continues to escalate, recovery from the current financial mess (brought on by government interference in the first place) will be a long time coming.

The answer is to stop acting like children and let the best man/company win in the marketplace. If that man/company is from Canada then they should get the job. Of course the government should NOT be spending the money of our grandchildren on all these pet projects in the first place. But the left has all by decided to ignore that simple fact and we are stuck with the mess.

HOW THE STIMULUS PLAN HAS BEEN WORKING ALREADY AND WHY IT IS BOUND TO GATHER PACE

The stimulus plan in of itself has halted the dramatic plunge in business and consumer confidence with the very likely threat of an economic depression earlier in the year, and businesses and consumers taking a less weary and more upbeat attitude to the future. Maybe more than anything else this will be the most significant impact of the stimulus package in the long-run enabling a spectacular recovery from the real possibility of depression before its passage. Businesses and consumers have become more and more confident that spending from the stimulus in the upcoming months will provide a solid environment for economic activity thus encouraging investment, reducing the pace of job losses and encouraging consumer spending. In other words, the stimulus package has avoided “a cycle of economic downturn to depression” and is now about to engender “a cycle of economic upturn to recovery”.

The stimulus package cash handouts and other social initiatives have played no minor part in lessening the burdens on individuals of the economic downturn and the consequent increase in the number of people unemployed thus palliating its effects with regards to mortgage, health coverage and consumer spending.

The stimulus package has halted the lost of jobs in in the areas of education and other state level services and enabled States to avoid budget bankruptcy (caused by the fall in revenues due to the economic downturn) with the result of avoiding indirect job losses in the private sector as well.

The stimulus package is bound to lead the way for new jobs creation to be followed suit by direct private sector investments with the consequence of increasing spending in the economy and accelerating economic recovery. It should be noted that jobs created by the stimulus will have a multiplier effect in the creation of jobs by private enterprises.

Perhaps more fundamental for long-term economic recovery, given the areas of investment of the stimulus package (infrastructure, energy and green jobs, education. etc.), it is the type of government investment required for renewing long-term economic growth. As was the case with FDR’s New Deal in the 1930s and Eisenhower building of interstate highways and investment in the sciences in the 1950s, the stimulus package is bound to restructure the foundation of the US economy within which private enterprise will thrive.

The fundamental element in the criticisms levied against the stimulus package that it will increase the US deficit is the total disregard by most critics of what would have happened without the stimulus with respect to avoiding the real threat of a depression, raising business and consumer confidence and restructuring the economy. Thus providing a good foundation for real growth in the long-run (boostered by the Stimulus and led by private enterprise) with economic growth by itself and healthcare reform allowing for deficit reduction in the long-run.

While the Stimulus Package has often come under this one-sided criticism of increasing the US deficit, such an argument can only be credible to the extent that it elicits how the results mentioned above which have been obtained (and are to be obtained) by the Stimulus Package could have been attained otherwise. Most critics of the stimulus package seem to think that this economy which was at the very brink of collapse simply avoided a depression by some miracle and that by the same token recovery is bound to occur by magic. To the extent that their arguments fail to answer these fundamental facts about avoiding a depression and beginning a recovery, to that extent, such arguments can hardly be considered credible.

That is one of the most poorly written and blindly searching for a nut responses I have ever read Aluceo. You can poo poo deficits all you want. Fact is eventually they have to be paid back or you get crushed under the interest debt. Fact is government money stimulates nothing except government. Fact is it is 99.5% unconstitutional.

But you want the spending so you hype it. You do not care about the Constitution. You don’t care that our children will never be able to pay the debt back. You just want to hype your Messiah who is doing the same things on steroids that liberals have always done and is destroying America.

The only person here failing to answer “fundimental facts” here is you in you quest to ignore economics in a quest for the glory of the state.

Aluceo is one of those disciples of Barack Obama who really believed the Messiah when he told them that if we did not act RIGHT NOW and pass the stimulus unemployment would shoot above 8% and only with the stimulus could we keep it below 8%. Now, with the stimulus passed and unemploymnent over 9% what is their response? “Well, it was a good and mainstream estimate” (paraphrasing)

NO! They were wrong! Not only were they wrong they knew at the time they were going to be wrong because mainstream estimates said that unemployment would hit near 10%. It was the LIBERAL estimates that believed the 8% cap number and no one else.

Oh yeah … the stimulus is indeed working. It is working at enslaving our children to Lord Obama and Queen Nancy.

When you write, speak and refer to the fraud in the White House as president, you solidify his crimes against America and Americans. He is NOT our president. He is a fraud. He is NOT a natural born citizen and has perpetrated the biggest fraud ever against American citizens. Just call him obama or soetoro, either name will do since we don’t have proof of his real name. STOP calling him president. He is NOT OUR PRESIDENT.

His push to reform our health care in the next 100 days is very transparent because he knows that his top communist co-conspirators, Reid, Pelosi and Boxer will soon be out of a job. They know we are going to vote them out of office. He won’t have the luxury of his usual communist backing in the Congress.

Judy, like it or not Obama is the president. Whether or not he his qualified to be president is a side issue that Obama is spending lots of money to make sure is never resolved for some reason.

Of course it looks bad on his part.
