Obama’s Approval Rating Downward Trend
J.J. Jackson | June 21, 2009
Shh. Don’t tell anyone but President Obama’s approval rating is dropping. It isn’t in free fall, but there is a disturbing trend that has got to have the left worried beyond all belief. With the economy failing to turn around like the White House promised (remember the 8% max unemployment promise?), Obama’s weak responses to North Korea and Iran and the left getting increasingly antsy that they do not have a socialist utopia yet (although they do have several banks and car companies) things are getting rough.
Rasmussen has been tracking Obama’s approval rating daily and the trend is clear; that trend is down. As people who pinned all their hopes and dreams on a candidate they knew nothing about (the moderates), pinned all their hopes and dreams on a candidate they knew everything about (the liberals), and those that decided to just give him a chance thinking that he really isn’t a hard line leftist (pseudo-conservatives) are now seeing, President Obama is having trouble living up to any of their expectations.
The chart below is taken from data from Rasmussen’s daily tracking numbers:

Obama's Approval Ratings Drop
This chart measures the difference between the strongly approve and the strongly disapprove numbers to give an idea about how strongly people feel about how the President is doing. Today marks the first time that this difference is negative. Negative two to be exact.
What we are seeing is a weakening of support with people moving away from the President and becoming less sure that he is the man to lead this nation. If these trends continue he could be very well the next Jimmy Carter. Because come election time it is a lot easier to pick off people that are not infatuated with a particular leader to the point where they “strongly” support him no matter how wrong he is.
