Obama’s Malocchio
Gene Lalor | June 30, 2009
DrudgeReport.com today features a brief piece on Obama’s “evil eye” replete with five very interesting photos of President Obama meeting with foreign leaders: http://drudgereport.com/flashoe.htm.
Titled, “Beware the Obama ‘Evil Eye’,” Drudge says people have noticed the president’s “new look” and goes on to say, “Staffers have joked about the menacing glance, which comes when the president meets with world leaders who are not aligned with his progressive view.”
Italians refer to the look as “malocchio,” or “mal occhio,” Spaniards refer to it as “mal ojo,” Hawaiians as “maka pilau” or “stink eye.” Call it what you will, the evil eye does not bode well for the subject of the look since in any language it’s not beneficent.
Interpreting expressions is always a challenge but here are a few possibilities:

Here, we see Obama looking askance at Italy’s Silvio Belusconi, as if to say, “You and your harems! You disgust me!”

Germany’s Andrea Merkel gets the narrowed left eye look that says, “You can’t be serious! You worry about inflation?”

This one is ominous, threatening, intimidating and bespeaks the wrath of Obama should anyone have the nerve to stand in opposition to him.

Clearly, Obama here demonstrates the height of disdain, thinking, “Must I really tolerate this drivel?”

Israel’s Bebe Netanyahu gets the look of studied incredulity in this shot: “What? You refuse to follow my dictates!?”
This is still my Obama favorite:
