Madoff Gets 150 Years While Violent Thugs Get Less

Yes, the whole sordid affair of Bernie Madoff is finally coming to a close.  But the shattered lives he left in his wake will long bear the scars of their encounter with a man whose lust for power knows no bounds.  Of course one must still question the intelligence of anyone that believed his claims of guaranteed returns despite market ups and downs. In the end Madoff, 71, gets 150 years which, judging by how our judicial system works, means he will be eligible to get out of prison some time just before Thanksgiving to partake of juicy some turkey.

No, I jest and you know that.  Madoff will die in prison and he should.  But you would believe that if the person being sentenced were a violent criminal accused of anything from rape to attempted murder of a former president.  Anything short of premeditated murder.

Year after year violent criminals and even repeat offenders continue to be let out of prison for less time than Madoff will serve and they physically injure people.  If only we could get as tough on that pond scum as the fungus that is Madoff …
