How Far Can Obama Get On His Looks Alone?
J.J. Jackson | June 7, 2009
Poll after poll shows Barack Obama has a high approval rating, although it seems to be steadily declining as the days wear on with only minor up ticks when he throws the far left wing base a bone such as in the case of nominating Sonya Sotomayor to the Supreme Court or promising to close GITMO but uncertain as to exactly how. Yet at the same time other polls, particularly those by Rasmussen, who was fairly accurate with its polling data in the last election, continue to show that Americans do not like what President Obama is doing.
For example, and as just the latest one, only 26% of Americans favor the bailout of GM by the Government while a clear majority opposed such action:
Twenty-six percent (26%) of American adults believe it was a good idea for the federal government to take ownership of General Motors as the auto giant was on the verge of collapse. Nearly as many–17%–say that Americans should protest the bailout by boycotting GM and refusing to buy its cars. Most Americans are somewhere in between.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 53% of Americans believe the bailout was a bad idea. Of this group, 30% favor a boycott, 54% oppose the idea and 16% are not sure.
This begs the question of how much longer can President Obama get by on his good looks and charm alone? Because he is certainly not liked for his policies.
