RSSDespite Evidence, NASA Still Promotes Sun As Not Major Factor In Global Warming/Cooling

NASA is trying really hard. No, seriously, they are. That big ball of fire up in the sky is hard to ignore burning away and giving off heat that everyone knows affects the temperature of the Earth. Simple experiment for all of you that still doubt this … note how it is generally warmer during the day when that big ball-o-fire is in the sky than at night when it is not.
Well, NASA is still trying to push the theory that the sun is not the major source of temperature fluctuations on Earth as witnessed by a new study. Yes, in the study they do actually admit that the sun heats the Earth but they claim that it can only account for about 25% of the change in recent temperature rises (that have recently also reversed themselves too by the way):
Over the past century, Earth’s average temperature has increased by approximately 0.6 degrees Celsius (1.1 degrees Fahrenheit). Solar heating accounts for about 0.15 C, or 25 percent, of this change, according to computer modeling results published by NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies researcher David Rind in 2004. Earth’s climate depends on the delicate balance between incoming solar radiation, outgoing thermal radiation and the composition of Earth’s atmosphere. Even small changes in these parameters can affect climate. Around 30 percent of the solar energy that strikes Earth is reflected back into space. Clouds, atmospheric aerosols, snow, ice, sand, ocean surface and even rooftops play a role in deflecting the incoming rays. The remaining 70 percent of solar energy is absorbed by land, ocean, and atmosphere.
“Greenhouse gases block about 40 percent of outgoing thermal radiation that emanates from Earth,” Woods said. The resulting imbalance between incoming solar radiation and outgoing thermal radiation will likely cause Earth to heat up over the next century, accelerating the melting polar ice caps, causing sea levels to rise and increasing the probability of more violent global weather patterns.
Well, this is a good first step I suppose … sort of like an alcoholic starting to realize that they have a problem. Robert Cahalan, climatologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. even admitted that we are between ice ages:
“Right now, we are in between major ice ages, in a period that has been called the Holocene,” said Cahalan. “Over recent decades, however, we have moved into a human-dominated climate that some have termed the Anthropocene. The major change in Earth’s climate is now really dominated by human activity, which has never happened before.”
Gasp! No wonder the Earth is warmer than in the past!

Please note this article where Michael Andrews discusses this NASA study and also provides charts of solar sunspot activity going back centuries. Notice anything? Like perhaps how sunspot activity correlates almost perfectly with the rise in Earth’s temperature that has started to reverse itself since about 2000? Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone. It’s a big secret!
And don’t bring up the fact that as the sun has quieted down a bit in the past decade while industrial production worldwide has steadily increased that temperatures have been going down. No, the environmentalist wackos wed to man made Global Warming/Cooling/Climate Change don’t like that at all.
