RSSDems Having Trouble With Blue Dogs and Other Somewhat Intelligent Liberals

Going mostly unreported is the fact that the Democrats are having quite a rough time with their plans to scuttle the United States economy by imposing on it all sorts of regulation in the name of protecting the environment from the fiction of man made Global Warming. The problem is two fold for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her gang of left wing Representatives. First is that the Blue Dogs, which are more conservative but generally still quite liberal Democrats, are against her. Second is that you have liberals who really want to do this but know that if they do their own constituents will rise up and throw them out in the next election because of the massive costs and job losses that will follow.
It is quite a quandary:
More and more Democrats are ready to vote against Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s climate change bill, according to a congressional committee chairman who opposes his leader.
The House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) said Wednesday that he’s at an impasse with the lead sponsor of a climate change bill strongly backed by Pelosi (D-Calif.), and that his list of Democratic members who would join him in voting against the measure is growing rather than shrinking.
“We’re stuck,” Peterson said regarding a clash he’s had with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) over a number of issues in the bill. “And there’s a lot of issues that haven’t even come up yet.”
The two powerful chairmen are butting heads at the staff level, despite a deadline set by Pelosi for all committee action to be completed by June 19.
The problems for the left are numerous here. With the economy in the dumper thanks to the meddling hand of Washington which has been meddling with business and the financial markets for years people are less inclined to allow Congress to do something that will further increase costs and regulate industry more. Also, with actual evidence that the Earth has been cooling rather than warming over the past couple years despite increased industrial and CO2 production world wide, people are scratching their heads at how if CO2 causes warming that the warming is not happening.
Thus the plans of the left are stalling.
