Darth Vader, Dick Cheney, Throws Monkey Wrench Into Liberal Talking Points

Yes, Darth Vader, aka Dick Cheney has been hated by the left for being an actual adult who dares to rain on their play time in the sandbox. But everything they say about him is just liberals being liberals – you know, being haters and deniers of reason.

Well, Dick Cheney has thrown a monkey wrench into their talking points by speaking up on the mythical creature known as gay marriage and taking away a major talking point against the right hand of the Devil himself (at least in their eyes):

WASHINGTON — Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday he supports gays being able to marry but believes states, not the federal government, should make the decision.

“I think, you know, freedom means freedom for everyone,” Cheney said in a speech at the National Press Club. “I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish.”

Cheney, who has a gay daughter, said marriage has always been a state issue.

“And I think that’s the way it ought to be handled today, that is, on a state-by-state basis. Different states will make different decisions. But I don’t have any problem with that. I think people ought to get a shot at that,” he said.

Of course you realize that the left will ignore all this and just keep claiming that he is against “gay rights,” whatever those are. 10% off Vaseline perhaps? No, seriously, my gay friends always get a kick out of that joke when we start talking about those radical in your face homosexuals who are out there demonstrating for their “rights.”

But I do take issue with Mr. Cheney over his comments. It actually is not a state issue. It is a religious issue. Marriage predated the “state” by quite some time. So I say if a church wants to wed homosexuals then let them. But I don’t want to hear them complain when their congregation reduces drastically in size.

The States are specifically prohibited from interfering with religious institutions and religious rites except in the rare cases where such things violate the inalienable rights of others. States should not be marrying people in their own ceremonies to try to get around the religious interference implications nor sanctioning certain marriages by the churches within them.

Other than that, I say marry whatever you want even if it doesn’t make any real sense to do so. I will not stop you. But I might point out how bizarre and wrong they way you want to marry is.
