Universal Healthcare May Be A Loosing Issue

People keep voting for liberals who promise many things. But time and again, when asked if they actually support the things liberals promise, few Americans actually agree. This of course goes to my long held belief that Americans don’t think when they head into the voting booth on election day or are just far too ignorant to be voting.

Take Universal Health Care for example. Liberals promise it. It has been implemented in many left leaning countries. It is also failing everywhere it is being tried. Most Americans rate their own health care through private insurance as good or excellent (70% according to a Rasmussen Poll). But only 32% in the same poll rated the same health care system as good or excellent.

Why? Because they have been told over and over how many people are suffering under the evil (semi-)free market system which we currently have. So even though only about a third of Americans say the over all system is good or excellent, by asking the right question we find out that the vast majority of Americans actually believe the system is good or excellent.

I always say that if governments would get out of the way and stop mandating what has to be covered and forcing people to pay higher premiums for services they do not want or will never use, individual satisfaction with the current system would be even higher.

This same polls shows that only Democrats are willing to pay increased taxes to cover a nationalized health care system. And not by much at that; just 54%. Republicans and the vaunted independents are against such taxes 77% and 60% respectively.

But yet Americans keep voting in liberals who propose such things or worse. If you are one of the people that are against all these crazy schemes of the left from universal health care to cap and trade but keep voting for them are you just ignorant or what?

And I haven’t even touched on the unconstitutionality of this behemoth either …
