Randall Terry and the Shame of Notre Dame

Gene Lalor | May 7, 2009

Randall Terry and Alan Keyes are more than a bit overly-dramatic for my tastes, which is not to suggest they are wrong in their current quest to be arrested again on or outside the campus of Notre Dame University.  Seal of the University of Notre Dame

The days dwindle down to a precious few until that formerly great Catholic institution publically surrenders its moral integrity and its Catholic soul on May 17th in a vain and needless quest for prestige, which it already has–in spades!

ND president, Father John Jenkins, must truly believe that welcoming and offering accolades to a virtually fanatical abortion advocate will add some lustre to his career whereas this will be remembered in Notre Dame’s annals as the day his beloved university pimped for Obama.

Terry was arrested for trespassing on May 1st and posted bail; his court date is set for May 19th in South Bend, two days after the scheduled commencement.

Excerpts from Terry’s May 4th statement on his arrest and incarceration.

Six of us went to Notre Dame on Friday, May 1, to make a visual statement about child-killing and ND’s invitation to President Obama to speak at the ‘09 graduation.  We pushed baby carriages with dolls covered with stage blood, and a bumper sticker stating:

Obama ‘09  One Dead baby at a Time  Notre Dame . . .

I was taken alone to a cell on campus where I prayed the sorrowful mysteries. . . We were transferred to jail – at Notre Dame’s order – for our peaceful, visual defense of the babies; meanwhile Notre Dame plunges ahead with her plan to honor the premier child-slayer of the western hemisphere.

Obama will be honored and welcomed on campus, though the innocent die at his command; we were jailed, and banned forever from the campus, because we defended those dying at his order. . .

I fear for “pro-life Catholics” who condemn our actions; I fear for lukewarm clergy who look askance at our measures; I fear for “Catholic press” that lacks the courage or integrity to even cover our activities, is embarrassed by our tactics, ashamed at our boldness, and seduced to silence by the fear of men.

Yes: we will stand trial for “trespass;” but the arrogant and the fearful in the Church Militant that “trespass against us” by denigrating what it means to be militant are on trial as well. . . .

The Obama/Notre Dame harlotry is the “consummation” of Catholic America’s godless marriage to moral relativism, lukewarmness, and unholy pacifism. http://www.earnedmedia.org/sftj0504.htm

Excerpts from Terry’s May 6th letter to the faithful:

If right now, God said to me: “Choose, Randall. You can have 100 people come to Notre Dame and go to jail as a witness for Life and Truth, or you can have 100 people send you $1,000 each to fund your fight in Notre Dame. Which do you choose?”  The answer is easy: 100 people to go to jail.

The value of courage is far beyond money. If someone gave $100,000 it would be a blessing, but frankly, that is not historic.  However, 100 brave souls hearing the call of God’s Spirit in their hearts to come and sacrifice their freedom for a few hours or a few days. . . that is historic.

The Notre Dame/Obama harlotry is so vile and corrupt that the depth of the evil cannot be overstated. That being true, what would be the most powerful witness we could muster to decry this evil, and defend the honor of the babies, the Church, Mary, and Christ Himself? . . .

As you surely know by now, Dr. Alan Keyes has committed to come to Notre Dame to be arrested for peacefully walking on campus, and praying – perhaps holding a sign defending the babies. He has sent out a call for pro-lifers around the country to join him in this courageous witness. Our phones are ringing; people are coming.

If we can get 100 brave souls to stand against this treachery with the witness of going to jail, it will be a historic landmark in the battle to end child-killing. . .

In our struggle to end legalized child-killing, and in our current battle to get Obama cancelled from Notre Dame, do we really think we can send emails, have a quiet prayer meeting or two, and prevail?  Do we think that we can prevail against the hardened culture of death with non-confrontational methods?  With “dialogue?”  This is the basest and most foolish of hopes, without basis in American history.

So, we must pray with all our hearts, then fight with all our might!
In that light, I beg you to come to “the battle of Notre Dame.” Come and be arrested with Dr. Alan Keyes. . . .

Our peaceful civil disobedience activities begin this Friday, May 8. They will continue every day next week. Dr. Keyes has spoken of “filling the jails to overflowing.” THIS WOULD BE AN INCREDIBLE WITNESS FOR LIFE AND JUSTICE!  It would make the angels rejoice, and the babies who have already been slaughtered say “Amen.” And it will be remembered in history books – both in time, and eternity.  Go to

As of this writing, there are 10 days remaining before Notre Dame President John Jenkins introduces America’s President Barack Hussein Obama to the 2009 Commencement audience, 10 days until the Shame of Notre Dame.  Keep in mind that Reverend Jenkins will not simply be praising President Obama.  He will be burying this poor victim of Obama’s policies:

Overly dramatic, eh? I say, “Remember the Alamo! Charge! Freedom! Let’s call a Crusade! We are talking about genocide! Doesn’t anybody have any courage! Watch the u-tube with the priest being arrested. Police are tying his hands behind his back, and he is singing a song to Mary! Did you ever hear of Cardinal Mindszenty? Find out what they did to him! Get ready–you are going to see some real drama in the future. We may be called on to be martyrs, you big babies! Get some guts!
