Public Will Not See $325,000 Air Force One Photos?
J.J. Jackson | May 6, 2009
President Obama is in CYA mode following his, and yes, it was his, approval of low flying flights over New York City by Air Force One for some photo ops. Of course we all know the result. Kept secret, the flights caused panic in New Yorkers as they remembered the events of the morning of September 11th, 2001. First people were outraged that our President could be so callous and insensitive. Next they were outraged to learn that the photo op cost the tax payers about $325,000. Now they are outraged to learn that Obama, trying to brush the whole thing under the rug, is simply not going to release the photos at all.
I don’t know about you, but as a tax payer carrying the near majority of America (considering nearly 48% of Americans do not pay net income taxes), I would like to see what my money got us!
The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White House said yesterday.
“We have no plans to release them,” an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.
The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.
So, we paid $328,835 for what exactly?
A joy ride for some of Obama’s buddies who got to tag along?
Now I know that the official line from the White House is that Obama did not approve this flight and the photo op. But think about that claim for a second. He is the Commander in Chief and Air Force One is the biggest piece of military hardware we have! You expect me to believe that he did not know where it was? And further you expect me to believe that no one told him that he would not be able to go anywhere on board it that day because it was being used to burn off some foreign oil turned into jet fuel?
Sorry. Not buying it.
