Obama Mania As A Sales Tool?
J.J. Jackson | May 16, 2009
They come in every day. Yep, every time I check my email there is almost always one of them. What am I talking about you ask? Why companies that are trying to cash in on Obama Mania.
For those of you that send me emails talking about this company or that company using either a body double of Obama trying to sell something or who have reworked their company logo to look like that now infamous Obama “O”, yes I do get them. And just to let you know, yes we have companies here in Pittsburgh absurdly doing the same thing.
One of them is North Hill Toyota who have cut a commercial with an Obama body double preaching low prices on cars to adoring fans cheering wildly. They even have an Obama style symbol for their company now too seen here:
It’s all a rather disgusting display if you ask me attempting to sell cars based on Obama’s popularity among the American left. Sure you might pick up a couple sales from star struck Obama supporters (perhaps even thinking that the man in the commercial is indeed Obama himself commanding them) but why alienate so many other Americans who find Obama not at all motivating?
As for me, I know there is one place that I will never patronize for pulling this stunt. That place is North Hills Toyota. In today’s economy I certainly would not be trying to turn off buyers by pulling such a stunt.
