I too am concerned about this change in coverage of
presidential events. It is not unprecedented, but it smacks
of what critics have called ‘Obama in perpetual campaign
mode.’

Instead of independent reporters and their camera crews, we
now have government employees releasing ‘The Best of Obama’
to the news outlets, who feel forced to run them in their
news broadcasts. I expect and hope the reporters will be
the first to complain that these episodes constitute an arbitrary
‘denial of access’ and that their employers will not broadcast
‘news’ not collected by their own staff.
