RSSSex, Morality, and the Decline of a Nation II

Pleae see “Sex, Morality, and the Decline of a Nation,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=958. That article discussed moral absolutes, gay views on those absolutes, and the general decline in America’s moral attitudes and behavior and what all that means for Western civilization.
This, obviously, is largely a subjective analysis and comments have clearly shown that there are differing opinions, mostly from the gay community. But that’s what makes for horse races and crap games.
As a disclaimer, I should concede that I am no moralist or social philosopher. I am commenting and reflecting simply on the basis of many years observing the social scene in America as well as on evident truths which too many of us refuse to confront.
Despite the gay reaction, this is not part of a campaign to single out homosexuals which, it has been alleged, was the purpose in numerous other articles here. Gays represent a prime example of America’s slipping into the cesspool of moral degradation and eventual oblivion but they are hardly the only examplars.
Cases in point:
AmericanThinker.com recently featured a piece entitled, “Moral Education for the New Order,” http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/04/moral_education_for_the_new_or.html, which primarily focused on on the ethical values of America’s young people. That article by Kyle-Anne Shiver cites various polls on the political, religious, and social views of our youth. All are intimately related and all indicate a downward spiralling of the quality of their lives and, as a consequence, of America’s future.
Cheating in school, lying to parents, stealing, plagiarizing, etc. all have two common denominators: Those most likely to cheat, lie, steal, and plagiarize tend toward the liberal and irreligious end of the political spectrum, and they have an outstanding sense of self esteem.
Liberal thinking leads to moral ambiguity and ambivalence at the same time it confers a false sense of self worth predicated on bad choices liberals make. Lie and cheat today, and get away with it, and it becomes an ego boost that’s carried into adulthood when the the liars and cheaters will continue those habits. No matter what they do, those youths–and their liberal elders, as seen in a related poll–believe they are “better than most people.”
As Shiver concludes, “Liberals tend to think of themselves as not only smarter than conservatives, but also as more honest, more charitable, more loving and more just in their relations with other human beings. . . [whereas] the exact opposite is actually true.” (See her article for a host of examples, details, and sources.)
To forestall misinterpretation, neither Ms. Shiver nor I suggests that conservatives are sacrosanct. Witness former Idaho Senator Larry Craig who, though never convicted, apparently tried to play footsie in a public men’s room with a non-footsie- playing law enforcement agent. Craig’s main challenge now is to convince his wife and kids that it was all a mistake.
More hurtful than Craig to conservatives is Mr. Hollywood Conservative, Mel Gibson, who seems to have let his libido overcome his common sense. Which all goes to prove that even a conservative braveheart can let his pecker rule his brain, trash his status as a role model for conservatives and for his family, and elect to effectively say that his passion for Oksana, a younger, prettier trophy lover/bride-to-be? supersedes Mel’s sense of morality. His 7 kids must be immeasureably proud of their daddy.
Another example of a disturbingly-common societal trend is this report of an insatiable cougaresque public school teacher who took sex education to an intolerable extreme. Ms. Hofman was Balbuena’s former teacher with whom Sixto had had an intimate affair. He became incensed that Ms. Hofman would share intimate pleasures with some other kid two years his junior.
Aside from the fact that both Samuel and Sixto could easily have been Tamara’s sons, one has to wonder what those assignations meant to Ms Hofman, aside from the obvious, after loverboy Samuel ended up dead and ditched loverboy Sixto was arrested. Tamara will probably become the most popular teacher in school among her male students, after she gets out of the slammer.
If Hofman’s (apparent) use of her classroom to entice and seduce minors into her bedroom were the exception, the case wouldn’t be as bothersome. It’s not quite the rule but seems to be becoming far less than rare. As our society slowly collapses, more and more teachers are taking advantage of that collapse with the very kids for whom they should be guardians, not predators.
Finally, Woody Allen, aka Allen Stewart Konigsberg, a veritable pustule on the ass of humanity, has long been in the vanguard of disintegrating standards and depreciating morality. For decades now he has made dark, introspective and resoundingly dull movies that no one sees yet which consistently garner the plaudits of his Hollywood peers. That in itself is an indicator of contemporary Hollywood’s lack of taste and standards.
The 73 year old Woody is now annoyed that his “reputation” is being smeared. He alleges in a lawsuit for $10 million that his reputation, built on a long, auto-smeared life of dissipated conduct, not to mention meaningless, except to him, flicks, was harmed by American Apparel by using his image on a billboard. “His contention during his deposition [is] that he was a ’special kind of entity’ or a “special taste.’ “

No argument there because few rational beings would argue with old Woody that he is a very “special taste” but millions would contend his reputation could never be harmed any more than it already has been, by Woody. He’s especially upset that American Apparel plans to raise details of his personal life in its defense. Mr. Konigsberg, Mr. Allen, feels that repeating such proven details as his seduction and picture-taking of Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, is unfair.
He did not raise objectons to charges by Ms. Farrow, that he molested his adopted daughter, Dylan, then seven years of age, since he beat that rap.
However that lawsuit ends, it appears to be a good and bad thing. The good thing is that Woody Allen must be desparate to pursue it, the bad thing is that, either way, he will still be the toast of Hollywood no matter his talents or “taste.”
So, what does that melange of miscellaneous information mean to sex, morality, and the decline of a nation? Individually and separately, it means little, except to the people involved. Collectively, it means a great deal as testimony to where America is headed as a country.
Our national direction was re-directed on November 4th, 2009, when the nation elected a guy named Barack Hussein Obama. Regardless of his foreign policy of apology and subjection and appeasement and his domestic policies of making socialism palatable, Obama is a man who has repeatedly shown his commitment to a denigration of human life and to endorsing acceptance of homosexuality as normal. He has cast a blind eye to every sort of human folly and degradation.
In so doing, our new president has sent the United States of America on a headlong course to oblivion. Woody Allen, the irreligious, the sexual predators, fallen away conservatives, and other liberals, young and old, will love our trajectory. Those who love our country should start mourning.
