Please Attend the Public Hearing on Voter ID Bill March 10th in Austin

Republican, Conservative, & Independent Friends:
Please come to the Capitol to attend the Public Hearing by the Committee of the Whole Senate on the Fraser/Estes SB 362 Voter ID bill on Tuesday, March 10th. The official hearing notice is attached.
There was a HUGE battle in the Senate on the 2/3’s rule during the procedural rules vote this session. The negotiation resulted in ONLY the Voter ID bill being exempted from the 2/3’s rule this session. After ACORNs illegal voter registrations last election cycle, I don’t have to explain how important it is for Texas to pass a good Voter ID bill now!
Though we had hoped for a mirror bill to HB 125 (introduced by Rep. Betty Brown) which is very similar to the Indiana Voter ID bill that was upheld recently by the Supreme Court, SB 362 is a starting point. We need YOUR PRESENCE & PARTICIPATION to get the bill voted favorably out of the Senate committee.
The Dems will have busloads of their supporters packing the Senate chamber. Please don’t let this be a repeat of last session when only 2 people (I was one of them) showed up to testify in favor of the Voter ID bill. As a result, we lost that battle last session and the inaction on the part of Republican & Conservative voters cost us several elections in November.
It is important to come to the hearing and sign a card stating your support for SB 362 — you don’t have to testify. It would be great to have busloads of Conservatives lined up to testify FOR A CHANGE — as I can assure you, the other side will have hundreds…..
Regards,
Rebecca

ACTION ALERT!
Texas Senate Bill 362, requiring photo identification to vote, will be heard before the Committee of the Whole Senate on Tuesday, March 10.
This is one of the best chances we will have to let our voices be heard concerning the issue of voter identification. What can you do?
1 – Show up on the south side of the Capitol at 7:45am on Tuesday. Wear RED!!
2 – Be prepared to testify in favor of SB 362. If you are willing to testify in front of the committee, contact Eric Opiela, the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Texas, at eopiela@texasgop.org or 512-879-4051. You can also sign in at the committee hearing as “in favor” of SB 362 without having to actually testify.
3 – If you cannot attend on Tuesday, you can submit written testimony that will be handed in to the committee.
4 – Call your state senator and urge him or her to support SB 362. For Travis County, that’s Senator Kirk Watson at (512) 463-0114 and Senator Jeff Wentworth (512) 463-0125. If you would like to contact other senators please refer to http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/senate/Members.htm
This is an issue that Republicans in Texas very strongly support. Even if you have never testified before a legislative committee, we urge you to come out and support voter ID by joining us at the Capitol on Tuesday, March 10.

This is an important issue, I remember the blue thumbs and the identifications of the Iraq free election. What did all the black protesters fight for is not elections free from corruption. As an african american it is my duty to God and country to fight for the right for my vote to be counted.Identification prevent anyone else from illegally using name to register a vote for anyone.
