RSSIdiots Upset For the Truth? They Must Be Liberals!

GOP Chairman Michael Steele got a tongue lashing from me, and deservedly so, for criticizing Rush Limbaugh. That row arose because Mr. Steele did not like Limbaugh being coined a leader, if not the leader, of the Republicans and Mr. Steele wanted that title for himself even though he had yet to earn it. I did not criticize Mr. Steele because I do not like him. I criticized Mr. Steele because he was wrong.
However today I am going to defend Mr. Steele against idiots who are upset because their feeling have been hurt. BOO-FREAKING-HOO! It all started over the fact that Mr. Steele dared to tell the truth that Frederick Douglass High School in Maryland was not doing its job. The rest has to be read to be believed.
City schools chief Andrés Alonso publicly asked Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele last night to apologize for making disparaging remarks about Frederick Douglass High School on national television.
A spokesman for Steele, Maryland’s former lieutenant governor, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In February 2006, Steele visited Douglass in West Baltimore, holding it up as an example of the failures of urban education and making a personal commitment to turn the school around. Though he has not returned to Douglass since – a spokesman said shortly thereafter that school officials were not receptive to his help – he again said Douglass isn’t doing its job during an interview this week on D.L. Hughley Breaks the News on CNN.
And what, pray tell, evidence does the Mr. Alfonso cite for the outrage? Get this, that because the graduation rate has risen 14% to 57% over the last few years!
Mr. Alfonso, I would not call a 57% graduation rate anything to be proud of! And I would go even further to make the bold, and obvious assertion as Mr. Steele’s has, that the school is certainly not doing its job!
Grow up and take it like a man! When you get a respectable graduation rate AND those that are graduating are not just being pushed through to make the numbers look good THEN you might have an argument. Until then sit down and get to work. Because you have a lot of work to do!
