RSSSenator Leahy Wants A Department Of Truth

Senator Leahy is pandering to the moonbat base of the Democratic Party who think that Bush planned (or let happen) 9/11, lied to go to war with Iraq and then ordered soldiers to torture enemy combatant terrorists by proposing to set up a “truth commission.” Yes, Senator Leahy … the man who would lie about the Constitution and what it does and does not allow Congress to spend money on wants to get to the “truth”:
The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee is proposing a “truth commission” to investigate abuses of detainees, politically inspired moves at the Justice Department, and whole range of decisions made during the Bush administration.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said the primary goal of the commission would be to learn the truth rather than prosecute former officials, but said the inquiry should reach far beyond misdeeds at the Justice Department under Bush to include matters of Iraq prewar intelligence and the Defense Department.
Leahy outlined his suggestion for a “truth and reconciliation” commission during a speech at Georgetown University Monday.
“I’m doing this not to humiliate people or punish people but to get the truth out,” he said.
Oh no, he would never have such motivations. Give me a break! The truth is already out there. The alternative media (blogs, etc.) have been getting it out for years. The only reason to go down this route is because unfortunately the “truth” isn’t sordid enough for Mr. Leahy. He wants to make the “truth” that President Bush was a blood thirsty, incompetent boob … ok … based on his last year in office the later may indeed be true I’ll admit.
I did not see Mr. Leahy recommending such action for President Clinton did you? After all the crap that he pulled while in office and that happened on his watch from trumped up charges against White House staff, to actively working to subvert a woman’s Constitutional rights to all sorts of military secrets that miraculously poofed into the hands of the Chinese, that did not amount to calls for a “truth commission?”
I think that before Mr. Leahy can go down this route he should be required to be the first person to stand before the “truth commission” and answer all sorts of questions I am sure he doesn’t want to answer, under oath and perhaps with a lie detector attached to his person.
Mr. Leahy, who is about as pure and the wind driven, yellow snow, would certainly reconsider if this requirement were made.
