RSSPeta Dresses Like Klan

The Klu Klux Klan, originally racist southern Democrats upset that the south lost the Civil War, are not something that sane people would want to dress up as. Heck, any parent who has ever dressed their kid up as a ghost in a white sheet for Halloween I would hazard to say has checked the costume twice and even three times over just to make sure their little sweetie doesn’t bear any resemblance to KKK members.
But PETA apparently has decided to embrace the imagery of the Klan under the mistaken belief that they can make a point by doing so:
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals knows how to grab attention. And show off its laundry.
The animal rights group, which every year stages a protest at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, had two of its members dress in Ku Klux Klan garb outside Madison Square Garden on Monday.
Their goal, according to a post on the PETA website, was to draw a parallel between the KKK and the American Kennel Club. “Obviously it’s an uncomfortable comparison,” PETA spokesman Michael McGraw told the Associated Press.
But the AKC is trying to create a “master race” when it comes to pure-bred dogs, he added. “It’s a very apt comparison.“
Me thinks that PETA is a little unaware of what the AKC does with “pure-bred dogs.” By definition and the fact that there are many different pure-bred types of dogs (notice the plural) there cannot be a “master race” (note the singular) of them. But then again I have never been able to claim that PETA has enough intelligence to understand such simple things.
Looks like their display left people with an even lower opinion of their organization too:
Bystander Fatima Walden told the AP the KKK imagery was inappropriate no matter what the message.
“They could have used something else as an example,” she said. “You should be considerate to everybody.”
Too bad for PETA. Another bust!
