Idiot Of The Week: Man Shoots Converter Box!
J.J. Jackson | February 25, 2009
With the federal government forcing television service providers to go digital, a service that obviously wasn’t that high in demand judging by the fact that government had to force cable companies and consumers alike to accept it, frustrations are running high with problems. For example, take this yo-yo who actually shot his converter box because he couldn’t get it to work!
OK, so the DTV transition hasn’t been perfect.
While the early analog-cutoff of 421 TV stations on Feb. 17 has gone relative smoothly according to most reports, that was not the case of at least one Missouri man, according to KARE-TV Minneapolis-ST. Paul.
The station reports that a 70-year-old Joplin man was arrested and charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm after shooting his TV set. Responding to a report of shots being fired, the station reported, the police found the man angry that he had both lost his cable and had been unable to get his new DTV converter box to work.
According to the man’s wife, he had been drinking.
You do realize that if the federal government hadn’t stuck it’s penis in the soup here we wouldn’t have had this incident right? No government mandate, no converter box and then no man shooting his converter box. But do not worry. I am sure the liberals are all over this!
Next up? Perhaps not only coupons to help you pay for their mandated switch but also coupons to help you hire a professional to help you hook up something less complicated than a frigging calculator!
