Obama To Military: Pledge Oath To Me, Not Constitution

J.R. | January 30, 2009

This is pretty scary stuff right here and I think it is part of this Presidents agenda to become a dictator of sorts:

A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution.

“The oath to the Constitution is as old as the document itself.” the spokesman said, “At no time in American history, not even in the Civil War, did the oath change or the subject of the oath differ. It has always been to the Constitution. “

“Technically, we can’t talk about it before it becomes official policy.” the spokesman continued. “However, the Defense Department, including the Secretary, will not take this laying down. Expect a fight from the bureaucracy and the brass.”

In a circular distributed by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, the rationale for the change was made more clear.

“The President feels that the military has been too indoctrinated by the old harbingers of hate: nationalism, racism, and classism. By removing an oath to the American society, the soldiers are less likely to commit atrocities like those at Abu Ghraib.”

“We expect a lot of flak over this,” ! the classified memo continues. “But those that would be most against it are those looking either for attention or control.”

The time frame for the changes are unknown. However, it is more likely that the changes will be made around the July 4th holiday, in order to dampen any potential backlash.

It is expected that the oath to the Constitution will be entirely phased out within two years.

It should be noted that there is no confirmation of this story anywhere.

I think “All Spin Zone” had better be very careful about what they claim is going on at this site considering that I already mentioned that there is no corroboration for this that I can find.

But then again, I am sure that they have their biases that they don’t want to be impeeded upon by the truth.

Yes, this looks like a complete hoax. It also looks like we have a blog that is trying to lie about what is going on here just like they claim we are doing. Actually the fact that you debunked it pretty quickly as just an unsourced rumor basically disproves their original premise and reason for linking here. I doubt they care or understand the hypocrisy of their own rumor mongering though.

LOL! That is why I like this blog! You guys are not affraid to call bullshit when necessary.

While it may be true, more evidence is needed before discussing it. The problem is that no one would doubt Obama would do something like this. Personally I think this was probably started by a lefty to see how many people they could get to bit ONLY because the reaction by the leftosphere has been so fast. Its like they knew it was coming.

    Young Tuck,

Thanks. We do try to call bull shit when needed. That is one of the reasons why we keep a comments section here. Although you see what happens. Sometimes you get someone that uses it to be a general prick.

Just remember that our moderator staff is unpaid however and we have a lot of pieces of information coming in each day between our syndicated writers and our news feeds so it is not possible for them to catch each one. We rely on reasonable people to keep the truth coming and fully expect people to make sure those contributing to this site get it right. Hence, again, the reason for the comments section.

FYI, and just for the record, Jeff I got tired of that stupid cache system we are trying to work the bugs out of screwing up comment timestamps so I updated the program to show the proper time of all the comments in the past three days. I was getting tired of people wondering how comments were being posted before they were posted an not for two hours or more after. I found the bug in the code.

LP, apparently you disabled the private post system too in your zeal :)

    Hi All,

I want to apologize for posting this piece too quickly. This business has become so competitive. I had received the Obama pledge story from a reliable source (not the author of the story) and some of the other reliable well know conservative blogs were carrying it as well, so I posted the story. It wasn’t posted very long when one of my listeners/readers contacted me and stated that the story had been discovered to be a hoax, so I immediately pulled the story from my blog.

I apologize to The American Conservative and the rest of my syndicators, as well as their readers for my errorin judgement, I should have better vetted the story.

As always Talk Show America strives to bring you the truth when covering these issues and I will continue to do so.

I think one of the posters here may have hit the nail on the head that the left may have floted this story out here to get a reaction, which they got. probably to try and destroy the credibility of the conservative blogs and talk shows on the net.

One of the problems here is there are so many questions about Obama’s background and motives that it is not hard to conceive that he would have tried such a move.

Thanks for listening and reading, I hope you will continue to do so.

    Jay

    Jay,

We all make mistakes. But you know how the left works! They find one out of a hundred things on a site that might be even so much as questionable and they think that it destroys the credibility of the site. Meanwhile almost nothing on many of the popular liberal website hangouts has any substance to it and they are considered Gods among men.

What is somewhat funny is that the left is very upset about this story but we only have to go back a couple years to remember how the truth of something was not always as important as the “seriousness of the charge.”

Just to update people, apparently no one at the “All Spin Zone” cares (i.e. they just take the site’s word for everything) or the site is dead as a cemetery because we have received a grand total of one looker from there.

“to try and destroy the credibility of the conservative blogs and talk shows on the net”
what credibility? especially when “The Onion” is used as source so often!

  13. RonniesRayGun (Moderator) on February 1st, 2009 9:55 am

Not here it is not “used as a source so often!” If you want to provide evidence that the Onion is a major source for conservative sites and talk shows then put up or slink back to DU or the Daily KOS and suck your thumb like a good little liberal.

And “by evidence” I mean proving that it is used “so often.” Not once or twice by some little podunk blogs and talk shows.

Just for richCares here is the following evidence that we do not cite the Onion as a source.

We DO however have authors that have made reference to the Onion on a couple occasions. These are found by doing a search for “the Onion” on this site:

Warner Todd Huston DID say of the AP “The AP is “like” the Onion… well, for obvious reasons.” (source)

Eric from Tygrrrr Express (when he contributed to this site) did reference the Onion but not as a source: “With that, I now do my version of a Barack Obama press conference, with my chin and nose tilted at a 54 degree angle as recommended in “The Onion.”” (source)

Carolyn Hileman quoted someone else who mentioned the Onion in one piece but even they did not use it as a “source”: “JONATHAN CAPEHART (Washington Post): Good afternoon, Andrea. I think it’s a big deal up to a point. Look, no one does satire better than the New Yorker, perhaps maybe the Onion does better satire.” (source)

And lastly, Warner Todd Huston once again reference the Onion but ONLY to note that their articles were appearing on the Huffington Post’s website. So if ANYONE is using the Onion as a source, it is a prominent LEFT WING blog. “The humor site The Onion, the offbeat weekly The Chicago Reader, and Time Out Chicago have discovered that some of their articles have appeared in total on Arianna Huffington’s mega web outlet The Huffington Post.” (source)

    Thanks for playing though!
