Is it any wonder Jesus said we must be like little children to come to him?

Is it any wonder Jesus said we must be like little children to come to him?

Children, uneducated, loud, spontaneous, fun, unpredictable and downright adorable., They are not wise enough to know that God only loves people of certain religions and the rest he damns to hell, they don’t know that it is wise to keep with your own kind and never step out of their comfort zone. They think nothing of color except what two put together make and what colors to paint a rainbow. They would never even consider whether their friends were of the right political persuasion or faith, their entire goal in life is to have fun.
They can find Jesus in any face and signs of God in the most mundane things, they ask a lot of questions and they say a lot of things we adults should not have said around them. They are still young enough to believe the country they live in is the greatest in the world and that there is nothing we can’t do if we really wanted to. They are to young to be jaded by all the things that life throws at you, when they say they are in love it is more like they love that person than most adults who spend most of their time trying to figure out how best not to get hurt. They don’t know that pain so they can be free to love unconditionally and freely.
They think nothing about opening up their hearts to people, because until they know better everyone is good, so they don’t pass judgment. It is only when we adults start telling them who they can be friends with, who they can love, who is acceptable that they really start forming opinions and at that point those opinions are not really their own, they are yours. It is not until we start thinking that we know more than their creator that their lives start to change. They start rebelling because they do not understand how we can say God loves everyone but they cannot love this person for that reason. In some cases it is for the safety of the child that we do this, but a lot of times it is because we are uncomfortable.
When we take something that precious and twist it and mold it to fit our image, we are at that same time destroying the very image of Jesus. It gives one pause to think if we too are guilty, have we formed their opinions and are those, the opinions that even we should have? When you are blessed with a child you are given an extraordinary opportunity form a little mind in the way that it should go, but so many times we as adults taint those little minds with our petty differences, so I ask you, is it any wonder Jesus said we must be like little children to come to him?
