The Source On Palin As McCain’s VP
J.J. Jackson* | September 3, 2008
This report comes from The Source. With rumors spinning about why Sarah Palin was picked for the Vice President slot on the Republican ticket, I asked if he/she knew anything about the selection process.
The thought was that if Hillary was placed on the ticket it would have been a slam dunk victory for McCain in November because you had two of the most unpopular candidates together. When he picked Biden the McCain camp needed to rethink their running mate and needed someone with conservative bona fides to balance the ticket. That balance was found in Sarah Palin.
Romney, while more liked than disliked by conservatives has his own baggage such as his socialized medicine plan in Massachusetts which would have been seen as a detraction. Palin is seen as a conservative and it is believed (and I concur) that this belief will stand up under the scrutiny that will be laid upon her in the coming weeks.
Make no mistake, the Democrats are panicked.
