So, what would Jesus do?

That question has been bandied about a lot especially if you are against illegal immigration or just about anything that is or should be illegal, you see it on protest signs why even a few politicians tend to ask that question so I thought since we have that little thing called the Bible we might check and see. While it is no big secret that Jesus was into forgiveness he never said, your sins are forgiven go sin again, no he said go and sin no more. And he also believed that you should obey the law of the land considering when his enemies tried to trap him by asking whether it was right for the Jews, whose nation had been taken over by the Roman Empire, to pay tribute to the Roman emperor. He took a Roman coin that would be used to pay the tribute and asked whose picture was on it; his questioners answered, “Caesar’s.” The reply of Jesus implied that in using Roman coins, the Jews accepted the rule of the Romans, and so the Roman government had the right to tax them, as long as the Jews were not compromising their religious duties. Jesus’ more general point was, “Give to worldly authorities the things that belong to them, and to God what belongs to God.”

So you tell me what would Jesus do? This the man who said thou shall not steal, kill or bear false witness, well of course he would tell you to love your neighbor as your self and most Americans do, American’s are the most generous people in the world often giving through one charity or another to help their fellow man. Most churches have missionaries who go to different countries to bring relief and spread the word of Jesus so I would think that we are loving those who are truly our neighbors as our self, true there is more work to be done and there will always be more work to be done but there will also always be American’s willing to do that work. Americans are neither greedy nor lazy as some would have us to believe, they have always risen to the occasion, any disaster any need and the American’s are always the first in line to help. Now of course what do you do when those you are supposed to love as your neighbor are suddenly not your neighbor any more and instead they have come into your home and are intent on changing everything in there?

There in lies the problem, your neighbor is no longer your neighbor and is coveting what belongs to you, he is lying, bearing false witness and in some cases killing, then you as a good Christian have the responsibility to make sure that they follow the law of the land because you know that Jesus said render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s. Now we have some people who like to pick which parts of the Bible they want to follow and totally ignore the rest and then we have some that I am not sure have ever read it, like for instance the new saying is that Jesus was a community organizer, I am not sure that Jesus would not take offense at that because he was so much more and to reduce him to the status of community organizer is a bit much even for a campaign that has been put on the ropes. I have yet to hear of any community organizer who healed the sick and forgave sins and I doubt even the one running for president would be willing to give his life for our sins, so as you see they have no idea what Jesus would do because they have not bothered to read it. Someone told them about him, maybe they heard some of while nodding off in Church but they never really got to know him much less what he would do. I suggest those whose only answer when they are in trouble is what would Jesus do, read that Bible, then you can tell us. So, what would Jesus do?
