Poll Spiking Attempts Failed
J.J. Jackson* | September 15, 2008
I just want to thank the couple liberal blogs, who thought that they had more readers and power than they really did, who tried to spike our recent poll question and giving American Conservative Daily some free publicity by sending their readers here with the expressed intent of spiking the poll asking about what readers thought about McCain’s chances now that Palin is on the ticket.
Yes, we do know who you are and we have been tracking the hits from your sites and watching the poll closely. However, you will note that even with these attempts, the poll remains mostly unaffected because, to be quite honest, these sites drove very little traffic here.
Nice try, but no cigar.
We asked, “Do you think that naming Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate helps or hurts John McCain’s chances of beating Barack Obama?” And the results were not even close:
Are you more likely to vote for John McCain because of Sarah Palin?
- Yes (39%, 242 Votes)
- No - I was already a McCain supporter (36%, 219 Votes)
- No - I love socialism and Barack Obama (14%, 88 Votes)
- No - I'm voting for someone else (10%, 64 Votes)
Total Voters: 613
79% of respondants said that naming Sarah Palin as his running mate made it more likely that McCain would win in November. 70% said that it helps his chances “a lot” while 9% said it helps his odds a little.
4% said his choice of Sarah Palin neither helps nor hurts his chances while 17% said it either hurts his chances a little or a lot.
