Not The Obama Obama Thought He Knew

After promising to rise above it all, the politics of “personal destruction” (made into an art form by liberals) I mean, it looks like Obama has decided (since he is now down in the polls) to start unloading.

First off let’s take a look at one article by Jake Trapper, who often coddles moonbats and gives them red meat to gnaw on and what he has to say pointing out Obama talking out of both sides of his own mouth in one speech.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — A fired-up Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., took on his opponents — “these people,” he said incredulously, in a familiar refrain — for shamelessness and dishonesty.

“I have said repeatedly that there should be no contradiction between keeping America safe and secure and respecting our Constitution,” Obama said. “During the Republican convention, you remember during the Republican convention, one of them, I don’t know if it was Rudy or Palin … they said, ‘Well, ya know, Sen. Obama is less interested in protecting you from terrorists than … reading them their rights.’”

You don’t say Barack eh? Let’s see how clear your opinion is shall we?

“Now, let me say this,” Obama continued, “first of all, you don’t even get to read them their rights until you catch them. So, I don’t know what, they should spend more time trying to catch Osama bin Laden and we can worry about the next steps later. Hah! I mean, seriously! These folks.
“Catch ‘em first!”

Obama said his position on this “has always been clear. It has always been clear. If you’ve got a terrorist, take ‘em out. Take ‘em out. Anybody who was involved in 9/11 –- take ‘em out.”

But, the former constitutional law professor argued, “What I have also said is this: that when you suspend habeas corpus — which has been a principle, dating before even our country, it’s the foundation of Anglo-American law — which says, very simply, if the government grabs you, then you have the right to at least ask, ‘Why was I grabbed?’ and say, ‘Maybe you’ve got the wrong person.’
“The reason you have that safeguard,” he said, “is because we don’t always have the right person. We don’t always catch the right person. We may think this is Mohammed the terrorist, it might be Mohammed the cab driver. You may think it’s Barack the bomb thrower, but it might be Barack the guy running for president.

Ok, got that? His position is clear … as long as you continue to listen to same side of his mouth and never to the other. So stop questioning him!

He says (again, in the same speech mind you):
“If you’ve got a terrorist, take ‘em out. Take ‘em out. Anybody who was involved in 9/11 –- take ‘em out.” But then he turns around and talks about how you just cannot take people out because, “Maybe you’ve got the wrong person.”

Well? Which is it? Do you “take ‘em out” or do you handcuff them and bring them back to stand before the court? Out of the one side of his mouth Obama says no day in court and out the other side he says give them their day in court.

There is more in Trapper’s report:

“These people!” Obama said.

Obama also mocked the new TV ad put out by the McCain campaign claiming that Gov. Sarah Palin “stopped the Bridge to Nowhere.”

“I gotta admit these folks are shameless,” Obama said, “because the record is indisputable,” he said, describing how Palin had originally supported the project.

But the record is NOT in dispute that she turned against the project. And didn’t Obama support the Bridge to Nowhere, unconstitutional and wasteful as it was? My issue with Palin is that, as far as my understanding goes, she simply redirected the funds. In other words, her state asked for the funds, then secured the funds and then used the funds for other purposes.

There should be something against doing that if you ask me. You know, above and beyond a law against asking for such funds in the first place. Oh wait … there already is one. But we ignore it.

But then again I have not defended Palin as a real “reformer” just like I have not defended McCain because he is not a real “reformer” either. Better than Obama? You bet! But a real reformer of government? Nope. Which is why I am not voting for him.

Then one of Obama’s disciples piped up:

“I wouldn’t do that,” Obama said. “I mean, I’m not perfect –”

“Yes, you are!” shouted a woman in the crowd.

Ah, the adoring and mindless followers! No wonder he can get away with taking two different positions on the same issue in the same speech.

Obama went on to talk about other things too. Although he would undoubtedly be better off keeping his mouth shut, he just cannot help himself:

“It’s empty words. You’re just saying it because you realize, gosh, Obama’s been talking about change and it seems to be working, so maybe we should say it too,” he added to mocking laughter from a crowd of 1,500.

While other polls have Obama ahead in all-important battleground states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Colorado, his campaign has clearly decided it is time to take off the gloves against McCain and, in particular, Palin.

“You can’t just make stuff up, you can’t just reinvent yourself,” he said earlier in Flint, Michigan, in response to Palin’s boast that she had intervened to kill the federally funded bridge.
The American people aren’t stupid.”

Well gee Barack, apparently at least 40-45% of the American people are … that’s how much support you have in the polls. You cannot argue these people are smart. They cannot even read and understand the limited powers of the Constitution which LIMITS the federal government!

“Politicians lying about their records? You don’t call that maverick — you call it more of the same,” the announcer said, breaching one of the last taboos of US politics by accusing the Republicans of outright dishonesty.

Gee Barack, you mean like you have lied about and distorted your record … non-existent as it is? You claim that William Ayers (a terrorist) isn’t that close to you yet he has supported you and helped you along the way and you have embraced him. You claim that you do not hold the beliefs of the Church you attended for how many years without ever so much as a single criticism of their racial superiority platform and hateful speach of the pastor? You don’t want people asking questions about your association with long time associate, and now convicted criminal, Tony Rezko. You don’t want to talk about your lack of ability to make decisions while a state legislator and refusal to time and again vote plainly either yes or no yet claim to be a leader! You don’t want to talk about how you were in the Senate for a little over 100 days before you started thinking you could be President and honestly did nothing of note to show that you can bring “change” while continuing to play politics as usual and requesting and supporting unconstitutional functions of government?

Need I go on? Hear that cracking sound? Those are the walls of your glass house being shattered.
Perhaps now that Obama is getting down and dirty we can say that this isn’t the Obama that Obama thought he knew – the one that was about “change” and supposedly above the “politics as usual” game?
