McCain Pays Women On Staff Better Than Men
J.J. Jackson* | September 4, 2008
A typical liberal talking point is that conservatives do not believe in equal pay for men and women for the same job. Barack Obama’s campaign has even targeted John McCain for his opposition to federal laws that would mandate such. Forget for a second that there is no authority in the Constitution for Congress to mandate wages and how people are paid. Is John McCain really a conservative though? Eh, I guess even a socialist is a “right winger” compared to a communist right?
Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air reports that the fact is that McCain trusts women with higher positions of power in his campaign than Obama does and in fact women on his staff make more than their male counterparts!
Barack Obama has campaigned on the issue of “equal pay”, casting John McCain as a villain for not supporting federal legislation widening grounds and timing for pay-discrimination lawsuits. Yet Obama may have a fair-pay issue of his own. According to Fred Lucas at Cybercast News Service, women on his staff made $6,000 less than men on average. McCain, on the other hand, has more women in key positions — and the women on his staff average slightly higher salaries than the men:
Now, this of course only compares the salaries of men and women on both campaigns. It doesn’t actually compare how their duties compare to one another and what their exact positions and jobs entail.
You would, however think that Obama, with all the millions he is bringing in, could find a couple thousand dollars to toss the way of his female employees to help them out a bit.
