McALLEN - An illegal immigrant convicted of assaulting a Border Patrol agent was sentenced to more than four years in prison Friday in federal court. Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Garcia, a Mexican national, admitted to forcibly resisting arrest and causing an agent to fall and dislocate his left shoulder when he tried to flee authorities on Dec. 13, 2007 outside Roma. Gonzalez-Garcia had previously been deported to Mexico after 2006 conviction for transporting illegal aliens. U.S. District Judge Ricardo H. Hinojosa sentenced Gonzalez to 57 months in prison for the assault charge and separate count of illegally being in the U.S.
