Get On The Record!

Make sure to contact your Representatives and Senators and tell them to oppose the federal bailout of companies that made bad loans! Make sure to also let them know that you know that Congress is a major reason why these businesses were forced to do the things they did!
Get on the record. Cite the controlling authority of the Constitution which limits their authority and let them know that you are watching them!
Here is my email to Rep. Doyle (D) and my representative in Pennsylvania’s 14th District if you would like a template.
Rep. Doyle:
I am writing you to inform you that I am strictly opposed to the expenditure of taxpayer dollars or the assuming of any debt to provide a financial bailout to financial institutions. The failure of the current system is clearly due to over-regulation and forced compliance with poor economic principles (such as loaning money to people that cannot reasonably pay back such debts in the name of increasing home ownership).
Congress has a duty to do only that which they have been tasked to do under our Constitution and nowhere in that document is Congress granted any authority to pick winners and chose losers, determining who shall and who shall not receive assistance. The assistance itself is not even justified.
I ask that you vote against any legislation proposed by any party that would provide financial assistance from the public coffers and further that you work with members of Congress to review and repeal all unconstitutional restrictions and requirements placed upon businesses by Congress and which have helped to create this “crisis”. Doing so will help to clean up this mess which Congress has had a hand in creating over the years.
I remind you that such is your duty and should be embraced with great zeal as you have been entrusted great responsibility by the American people.
