Anbar Turned Back To Iraqis – Victory!

Liberals like Barack Obama have said that the war in Iraq was a loosing cause and that we should remove our troops immediately and cease standing with the Iraqis against terrorists. But the facts continue to defy these claims. Now, Anbar Province, once a hot bed of terrorist activity, is being handed back to Iraqi control.

RAMADI, Iraq: Two years ago, Anbar Province was the most lethal place for American forces in Iraq. A U.S. marine or soldier died in the province nearly every day, and the provincial capital, Ramadi, was a moonscape of rubble and ruins. Islamic extremists controlled large pieces of territory, with some so ferocious in their views that they did not even allow the baking of bread.
On Monday, U.S. commanders formally returned responsibility for keeping order in Anbar Province, once the heartland of the Sunni insurgency, to the Iraqi Army and police. The ceremony, including a parade on a freshly paved street, capped one of the most significant turnabouts in the country since the war began five and a half years ago.

Damn, the talking points by those that were invested in defeat are not holding up to scrutiny. It is the fact that we are winning and the Iraqis are finally being properly trained (something that Saddam did not do because he feared a military revolt against him and his loyalists) that our soldiers will be no longer needed in Iraq.

Kudos to the American soldier who, I would like to remind the raging anti-war moonbats that claim to support our troops but not their mission, have freely signed up in droves to accomplish this task.
