4 illegals are facing assault charges

LAKEWOOD — Four Hackett Street men were charged Tuesday in connection with the assault of a township man and are being held in lieu of bail and on immigration detainers, police said. About 8 p.m. Aug. 23, Officer Kelly Zrebiec responded to a report of a fight and discovered Anselmo Mendoza of Lakewood beaten with a baseball bat and a shovel, said Detective Lt. Joseph Isnardi. Detectives Oscar Valmon and Steve Wexler investigated the assault and arrested four men about 6 p.m. Tuesday at their home in the 600 block of Hackett Street. Ezequiel Ramirez-Garcia, 24, and brothers Jose Alvarado-Gonzalez, 22, and Rudolfo Alvarado-Gonzalez, 19, were each charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. A fourth man, Sylvester Ramos-Ruiz, was charged with making terroristic threats.
