RSSWatch Out As Liberals Spin This!

Liberals who opposed the liberation of Iraq have been crying for a “timetable” for withdraw based on arbitrary dates. Those that supported the liberation of Iraq have been saying that U.S. forces should rightfully be withdrawn as the Iraqis are able to take control.
The latter has been happening stunningly well, much to the distress of liberals who continue to either call the Iraq War a failure or begrudgingly are finally admitting that progress has been made.
Now there is this report:
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Iraq’s prime minister said Monday his country wants some type of timetable for a withdrawal of American troops included in the deal the two countries are negotiating.
It was the first time that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has explicitly and publicly called for a withdrawal timetable — an idea opposed by President Bush.
He offered no details. But his national security adviser, Mouwaffak al-Rubaie, told The Associated Press that the government is proposing a timetable conditioned on the ability of Iraqi forces to provide security.

“The goal is to end the presence (of foreign troops),” al-Maliki said.
This is all well and good. I have been looking for someone that did not think that the goal of this mission should be the to “end the presence” of foreign troops and instead promoting an imperialist agenda. Haven’t found that person yet though. Although liberals often operate under the false assumption that support for the war meant support for an imperialist takeover of Iraq in order to further their own talking points and hide their own imperialist history of their fellow travelers by accusing the other side of doing what they do.
The spin on this will be that Iraq wants a rigid timetable for withdraw. But the statement by al-Rubaie puts the lie to that and reinforces the current policy of “foreign troops” standing down as the Iraqis get up to speed and trained to defend their own country which has been the policy all along.
Just be warned. The left loves to take things out of context and this will certainly be no different.
