Someone Is Full of Himself

Movies and television shows entertain us. Some actors or entertainers can inspire people to move forward in their lives.
Nothing wrong with that.
Chuck Norris has inspired people to change their lives through martial arts. You can make fun of him, his acting abilities, whatever - but the man has done good work for kids.
We’ve had many “acted” presidents that could be an inspiration to people.
President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) in “Independence Day” inspired people to take to their airplanes to defeat the alien invasion. Hmmm can’t see how that would help us much now unless we have to save our planet from some creepy alien invasion; although, maybe the Minute Men got their motivation from this movie to prevent the alien invasion on the Mexico border!
President Shepherd (Michael Douglas) in “The American President” reminded us that loving and being loved is just as important in ones life. Okay, there are a million sappy movies out there that remind us of that, but I needed one I have seen and there was a President as the important charactor. Loved the movie actually, even through Michael Douglas doesn’t inspire me to do diddly.
We (the SGM and I) have also seen President Palmer in “24“. He didn’t inspire me to do anything but sit in front of the TV for a weekend and overdose in the show via DVD … and that might have been more for the storyline and Keifer.
Dennis Haysbert has the impression through his role as President on a TV show people will be more accepting of BHO.
via Newsbusters:
From Reno, Associated Press reporter Scott Sonner reported actor Dennis Haysbert likes to believe his portrayal as the first black U.S. president on Fox’s 24 may have helped pave the way for Barack Obama:
”If anything, my portrayal of David Palmer, I think, may have helped open the eyes of the American people,” said the actor, who has contributed $2,300 to the Illinois Democrat’s presidential campaign.
”And I mean the American people from across the board — from the poorest to the richest, every color and creed, every religious base — to prove the possibility there could be an African-American president, a female president, any type of president that puts the people first,” he said Tuesday.
The three similarities that I can see between the two are
a) they are black - one African American, one Arab-African-American;
b) they are both Democrats - one less so than the other; and,
c) they are both men - one with a backbone, one without.
You figure out which one I think is what …
It would be great to imagine a positive role model from the entertainment community could give people a comfort level with something new - but Mr. Haysbert … there is nothing new about Barack Hussein Obama.
Same liberal ideas as before.
Same need for total power and control over the lives of Americans ala Hitler, Satlin … hell pick a dictator!
No Dennis your role of President Palmer doesn’t give me any comfort in Barrack Hussein Obama.
