Senator Boxer: Avoiding Heat Illness
Carolyn Hileman - The Voice | July 3, 2008
Dear Friend:
Near record heat has already hit many areas of California – and we only recently had the official start of summer. Many more months of heat can be expected in most regions of the state.
Many people can be at risk for heat illnesses or heat stress if they are exposed to even short periods of intense heat or direct sun. It is important to know how to avoid heat illnesses and also to know the symptoms associated with various types of heat illness.
If you would like to know more about how to avoid, identify and respond to heat-related illness, I encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s web feature on the frequently asked questions about extreme heat.
I hope you find this information to be of help and that you plan to stay safe during the summer months.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
