Congress is intent on blaming anyone but themselves for the energy problems that they themselves caused and are now contemplating creating an economic disaster to fix an environmental non-problem. The First Energy Act is a 25% windfall profits tax punishing oil companies that will increase fuel prices and do nothing to open up our huge off limits energy resources to exploitation. Lieberman-Warner “Climate Security Act” will raise energy prices as a stealth means to raise tax revenues to achieve dubious benefits based on questionable scientific evidence. The Senate 2009 budget not only ends the Bush tax cuts imposing the largest tax hike in history, but does nothing to address the impending entitlements bankruptcies. Meanwhile the House is about to pass a budget that increase discretionary spending with no PAYGO revenues to offset the deficit spending, requiring huge future tax increases. Meanwhile the Democrat Congress continues to obstruct judicial nominations by delaying some nominees close to two years without ever investigating or bringing up for a vote. Nancy Pelosi refuses to acknowledge our military success in the Middle East but would rather support Democrat policy of defeat by attributing any progress to Iran, rather than Americans. Democrat Congress has done everything in their power to undermine the execution of the War on Terror including micromanaging the troops in Iraq and crippling security powers at home. Only four more months until we can vote to “throw the (“do nothing Congress”) bums” out and finally reward them for their months of obstruction and pointless investigations.

Obama may be running on a platform of “Change” but unfortunately many of his proposals will result in change for the worse, undermining the economy and surrendering our interests to others. Only a fool would believe the idea that leaving his church after 20 years will distance Obama from his Black Liberation Theology divisive thinking that was acquired during those 20 years! Obama is trying to put every negative aspect of his life (his wife, his pastor, his friends, his fund raisers, his voting record) off limits so he can give speeches on topics of his choice. Obama is a victim of his upbringing that lowers his expectations for this country’s future and envisions a “deficiency of hope” with dependence only on big government for future prosperity. Obama has repeatedly pandered to the unions proposing subsidies and tariffs to protect industries from free market trade, which replicates the failed Depression era approach. Obama has said he has no problem talking to Iran’s Ahmadinejad without any preconditions, but is reluctant to talk to General Petraus unless it is part of a Congressional inquisition. The MSM has failed to report on Obama’s plan for unilateral disarmament of the United States defenses, redirecting 15% of the Pentagon’s discretionary budget to fund his social programs. The last time an inexperienced, naïve and idealistic President tried to reform foreign policy, Jimmy Carter had disastrous consequences for this country and emboldened our enemies. After being mentored for most of his life by Marxists, socialists, and radicals, it should be no surprise to anyone that his ideas are throwbacks to failed Marxist and socialist ideas.

Republican agenda appears to be “Reform for Growth” balancing the budget, repairing the broken entitlement programs, controlling the border, and defending our national security interests. McCain’s proposal to cut corporate income taxes would have the biggest positive impact on economic growth and sets him apart from his high taxing Democrat opponents. McCain wants to get the government back on track limiting government interventions, controlling spending, eliminating earmarks, closing our borders, and protecting our country. One year ago an NIE that warned of al Qaeda “regenerated attack capability” was front page news, while today’s NIE concluding al Qaeda “near strategic defeat” is relegated to the back pages. The most important thing McCain can do is to define himself with his ideas for change and reform, before the MSM steps in to define him in their own terms favoring the Democrats.
