The Democrat Congress has sided with the environmentalists to become an American fifth column by not allowing any energy exploration, no drilling, and no new oil refining. The Democratic plan includes seven investigations of price-gouging, four investigations of speculators, suing OPEC, $20 billion in new taxes against the oil companies, while none of these would reduce the cost of gasoline. 91% of House Republicans voted to develop oil at ANWR while 86% of Democrats opposed drilling there. 97% of House Republicans supported the conversion of coal to gas while 78% of Democrats opposed. 90% of House Republicans supported development of oil shale in Colorado and Utah while 86% of Democrats opposed. 81% of House Republicans supported oil exploration for the outer Continental Shelf while 83% of Democrats said no. 97% of House Republicans want to increase refinery capacity while 96 percent of Democrats said no way. 91% of Republicans have favored development of oil and gas reserves while 86% of Democrats have been against oil and gas exploration and development. The final insult was delivered by Maxine Waters when she revealed the liberal intent to nationalize the oil refineries as a means to insert government control intot he energy free market.
This Democrat Congress has exposed their liberal agenda to expand government and increase taxes, as a step towards Socialism by gradually nationalizing health care and the energy industry. Democrat leadership has ignored the will of the people in their manipulation of the congressional process, prohibiting Republican amendments, debates, and legislation. The Democrat Senate has been the worst at judicial nominations, confirming only 6 circuit court judges and voting on only 5 of the more than 1500 nominees to life-tenured judicial positions. Despite the housing and financial sector problems the phantom recession never arrived based on continued slow growth, positive industrial production and strong consumer spending, but this has not stopped the Democrats from “crying wolf” and calling for more government intervention. The Boxer Climate Tax Bill was the largest tax bill in U.S. history and did nothing to address the energy crisis or global warming and was thoroughly disavowed by Democrat leadership. The Democrat Socialists are following the Marxist playbook by obstructing legislation to create and maintain an energy crisis thereby building a need for government intervention.
Obama may not like being called a Marxist but all his proposals add up to leftist totalitarian collectivism (socialism) and blame America deferral to global governance called Marxism. Obama is very sensitive to the criticism that he is “all talk and no resume,” so his reaction is to rigorously control the press to stage manage his image to create an inflated persona. He has perfected the art of political doublespeak, spinning negatives into non–issues or deflecting criticism, while rewriting and embellishing history to support his weak resume. The candidate who was “selected, not elected” has decided to try to buy the election, passing up federal funds, by raising unlimited campaign funds and spending on whatever he wants. Obama has vowed to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and to support expanded abortion rights including partial birth abortion. Obama endorses the liberal energy policy of throwing money at alternative energy investments while offering nothing to address the current energy cost problems. Obama not only has promised to let the Bush tax cuts expire (biggest tax increase in history) but to increase dividend taxes, reinstate death taxes and new retirement account taxes. Meanwhile Obama has promised numerous unfunded infrastructure spending programs on highways, railways, energy grids, and a gradual government takeover of health care. Obama has also embraced the failed leftist approach of Presidents Carter and Clinton to treat terrorists as criminals to be prosecuted and not enemies to be defeated on the battleground. Attacking McCain as standing with President Bush 95% of the time, Obama neglects to mention that he stood with the liberal Congressional leadership himself 100% of the time! Surrounding himself with former Clinton and Carter era retread advisors, the only Change Obama can deliver is a return to the failed policies of the past.
McCain agrees with President Bush on some issues, but differs on execution of many of his programs, and has opposed the President on a number of other issues. McCain has supported making the Bush tax cuts permanent despite opposing them when first proposed in 2002. McCain has been a strong supporter of the military and an early proponent of a military surge in Iraq as a path to victory, but has been a verbal critic of the execution of the war. McCain has reversed his prior opinions to embrace energy independence proposing offshore drilling and the building of 45 new nuclear reactors by 2030 to address energy needs. McCain as a maverick has advantages, but also disadvantages since his conservative support is not strong and comparative decisions are based on importance of individual voter issues. McCain has defined his platform as ‘Reform, Prosperity, and Peace” rejecting failed Bush programs, improving poorly performing Bush policies, and vowing to continue Bush successes.
