People See Government As “Special Interest Group”

Lots of politicians (particularly on the left) like to rail against “special interest groups” – but only those they are not in bed with and beholden to. For example the “gun lobby” is vilified for defending the second amendment while senior citizens on Social Security and other entitlement programs are not as they work tokeep the money from the paychecks of workers coming.

Well, the problem is that the American people see the federal government itself as a “special interest group” according to a Rasmussen poll:

Sixty-seven percent (67%) of voters say that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interest. Just 15% disagree with that assessment.

So next time a politician talks about taking on the “special interest groups” ask them boldly what they are going to do to take on themselves.
