Hugo Hinchey Calls To Nationalize Oil

J.J. Jackson* | June 19, 2008

Leftists are leftists are leftists. Whether it was Hitler or Stalin or Mussolini in the past or whether it is Hugo Chavez, Kim Jong Il or certain members of Congress today doesn’t matter. They all have the same answer to any problem in a free society and that is to “nationalize” (aka socialize) the economy.

Previously, Maxine Waters let it slip that she was all about “nationalizing” the oil companies because they were not behaving as she believed they should.

This liberal will be all about socializing … uh … uh … (long pause as she realizes what she just said) will be about (another long pause as she searches for a coherent thought) basically taking over (pause) and the government running all of your companies.”

Yesterday it was Maurice Hinchey’s turn to show how much he admires the policies of fellow traveler Hugo Chavez. When asked point blank if he and members of Congress were seeking to “nationalize” the oil industry (or at least parts of it) he confessed:

Yeah, there’s thought going on about this. Frankly, this is something that I think is essential. And I think it’s only a matter of time before it takes place.

So don’t tell me liberals are not socialists, communists, fascists, etc. when they keep admitting they are. The question really now comes down to how ignorant and/or stupid the American public is and whether or not they will buy into an ideology that has always failed and will always fail.

If they are allowed to nationalize the oil industry one can only wonder how quickly they will go bankrupt and then blame that on George Bush too.

What hogwash. This article’s author is guilty of exactly what he accuses the Democrats. He uses emotional hysteria to create a response. And he shows his ignorance of economic systems and how they work. Socialism is not fascism. If anything, Capitalism supports fascism and that is where this country is at now. Mussolini defined Fascism and the marriage between the governement and the corporation. Who runs this country now! Not the people. It is corporate money that buys and sells politicians. Who is the administration now? Oil barons. What has happened to fuel prices under their watch? Over $4/gallon at the pumps and going up. $4.21 and rising in my neck of the woods. And the major oil companies brag about a windfall profit last quarter while we can’t afford to get to work. Well, if I were to make $36 million a year as a CEO of an oil company, I guess it wouldn’t matter what the price of oil at the pumps were.

Yes, that is right–CEO’s of the five biggest oil companies earn between $15-35 million a year each.
No wonder they screech about socialized energy. They won’t be able to rip us off so easily. Public service utilities; ie, government run utilities have always been cheaper to run for the public. History shows that when utilities are run by the government, costs for the public are 30-50% less than if run privately, as we have now.

This scare tactic of attacking the idea of socialized energy is nothing more than that. If the argument were based on facts instead of hysteria, I think the public would come to understand that free market economies such as capitalism have nothing to do with keeping costs down and ensuring adequate income to afford our needs. Capitalism without any government controls is a disaster for the public and look at all the controls that the Republicans have removed with the resulting price increases. Stop listening to screeching labels and start looking at what is going on!

Enter the hysterical left trying to deny who they really are and trying to make them people believe that fascism is really a “right wing” ideology.

I guess they figure they have had decent success doing that with Nazism so on to the next left wing ideology they don’t want to be associated with.

    Capitalism supports fascism? Really?

    The truth -

Fascism: “political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

    Hardly “capitalism” which is:
“an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market”

“Stop listening to screeching labels and start looking at what is going on!”

Ever notice how the left hates to be “labeled” but love to hurl “screeching labels” themselves and rail against the “oil barons”. RAAAAHRRRRRR!

Fact - Mussolini was the father of modern fascism and liberals in America and the time adored him. Many still do. He even coined the term - “fascismo”.
Fact - gas prices are now at over $4 a gallon because liberals (socialist, communists, fascists) in both parties have prevented the development of our own reserves for twenty years.
Fact - Oil prices have sky rocketed in particular since the more liberal Democrats gained control of Congress in 2006. This is easily confirmed. Oil prices spiked after 9/11 and fell back to $50 per barrel by November 2006. And what has happened since?

One thing these foaming at the mouth leftists like tanay need to realize is this is not a partisan site when it comes to political party although with a parting shot tanay tries to make it so by distinguishing among Rs and Ds related to high oil prices.

But if tanay would actually read this site you will see that, in particular Jeff, makes no bones about how there are lots of leftists in the Republican party too and takes on the Republican party quite often when they act like little fascists too.

Aw shucks - pointing out what liberals are really interested in and what they really believe in drives the sheep nuts. How unexpected!

Never quote a liberal - their followers get upset.

Here’s what’s funny about tanay’s post. tanay decried Mussolini and tried to separate socialism from fascism but didn’t even denounce Hitler as a prototypical socialist.

Can we only dare to dream that the left has finally given up trying to portray Hitler as “right wing”? Can we only dare to dream that the left has finally given up lying about Hitler and are willing to admit he is indeed one of them?
