Democrat congressman helps immigrants become citizens

HOUSTON (KTRK) — Saturday was Flag Day, a celebration of the symbol of our country. And for hundreds of Houston immigrants, it was the perfect day to take the first step towards becoming a US citizen. Congressman Gene Green of the 29th district held his 14th annual citizenship day event to help local immigrants navigate the costly and sometimes confusing process of becoming a citizen. “We help people fill out the paperwork, get their photos taken,” said Green. “We have immigration attorneys who donate their time to make sure those applications are correct.”
