CAGW Releases 2008 Tennessee Piglet Book

CAGW has released the 2008 Tennessee Piglet Book, officially entitled the 2008 Tennessee Pork Report: Waste, Fraud and Abuse of Your Tax Dollars Exposed. Published in conjunction with the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, the report is the latest in CAGW’s series of Piglet Books, which expose wasteful spending by state governments. The Tennessee Pork Report shines a light on $260 million in egregious examples of waste, fraud, and abuse paid for by Tennessee taxpayers, including: $19.2 million to renovate the Governor’s mansion; $1.4 million annually to operate state-owned golf
courses; and $1.2 million to resurrect a ferry service that averages only 23 passengers a day. Media coverage of the Tennessee Piglet Book has included television news broadcasts on ABC-24 in Memphis and on WSMV and WTVF in Nashville and articles in the
