2nd illegal immigrant charged in Brewster beating

BREWSTER - Sheriff’s investigators have charged a second illegal immigrant in the beating last week of a man at North Main Street and Michael Neuner Drive. Bernabe Lopez, 21, of 84 Main St. is being held this morning at the Putnam County jail after investigators charged him in the beating that occurred June 1 around 3 a.m. Lopez and his co-defendant, Tarrantino Perez, 37, of 15 Center St., Brewster, are charged with second-degree assault, a felony, in the assault. Police said they beat their victim with a length of chain and belts.
