In Americas darkest hour, when fear and dread swept our nation, when we were not sure if we were going to be attacked again, when threats of anthrax and small pox permeated the airwaves and any thing out of the ordinary was cause for pause, we had people who honestly believed that we were over reacting, that there was no cause for alarm, that we should not be worried about the amazing amount of Muslims in our country of which we had no idea what their affiliation was to the extreme sect of Islam, we after watching on live TV our neighbors being burned to death, jumping from buildings and endlessly searching for survivors were to simply forgive them and look the other way. One man, who would like to be our president even, wrote in his book the following:
The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows: “Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

During a time when his countrymen needed him, he made it very clear where his allegiance lied and it was not with the American people he so dearly wishes to lead. Perhaps his close ties with the Muslims explain why he refuses to wear an American flag pin, he himself has said:
You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest. Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism. (ABC News, Oct. 4, 2007)
As for his not saluting the flag during the National Anthem:
An Obama aide offered this explanation:
Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t [put his hand on his heart]. In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous. (Inside Edition, October 23, 2007)
This is a man who has said that he would side with the Muslims and to date he has kept his word, the going theme right after 9/11 among news media and some leaders was that to wear an American flag on their lapel represented choosing sides, it intimidated people from other countries and they did not want to be seen as being pro American. Even while they were shoveling the ruins of the trade centers looking for the victims flag lapel pins were being shed in an effort not to be so American, when our people needed these people including Obama had decided who it was they would stand with and it was not us. I suppose the question is if elected, whom will he serve, whom will he stand with and what will he salute?
