pregnant woman driving a stolen vehicle ran from police and hit two undercover police vehicles before she was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Two plainclothes Mesa officers were slightly injured in the incident.
Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Angelina Sanchez of Phoenix, was seen driving a stolen vehicle in Mesa and was followed to Tempe where officers attempted to stop her.
Police said she failed to yield and did a U-turn in the 1800 block of East Apache Trail where she struck a Mesa undercover vehicle from the rear.
An air unit followed the vehicle to Extension just north of Main Street in Mesa and officers set up a perimeter because it appeared the driver was going to bolt from the car. An unmarked gang unit vehicle positioned at Main Street and Extension was hit by the stolen car head-on, police said.
Sanchez, who is six months pregnant, was arrested and taken to Mesa General Hospital for evaluation. Police said she showed signs of drug impairment.
Sanchez faces two charges of aggravated assault, DUI, hit and run, possession of a stolen vehicle and felony flight.
