RSSMost Americans Want Smaller Government

Now, I’m going to call bull crap on this new poll by Rasmussen because I know what the respondents really mean:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 62% of voters would prefer fewer government services with lower taxes. Nearly a third (29%) disagrees and would rather have a bigger government with higher taxes. Ten percent (10%) are not sure.
Great news, except that it is a little misleading. What most Americans actually want is smaller government as long as the funding for their particular loyalty payment from the government is not cut. Disagree with me if you want, but I’ll be proven correct in November when you see no where near 62% of Americans voting for candidates truly supporting trusmaller government. What you will see is that most Americans will vote for either Barack/Hillary or John McCain who all will keep the largest loyalty payments (Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc. which account for 60% of the budget) coming.
Of course, when you have candidates actually running on limited government (like the Constitution and Libertarian Parties) adopting insane policies towards the war on terror and trashing the mission of our troops (and by correlation the troops themselves) it is no wonder that people make the choice between the lesser of two evils.
