REPS PUSH IMMIGRATION REALISM

Immigration reform via Reps’ bill was presented dated March 5, 2008.
No gaps this time around.
Items: finish the 700-mile border fence.
English set as national language.
Enforce tougher worksite laws.
No “sanctuary cities.”
No driver’s licenses to illegals.
No amnesty.
Senator Jeff Sessions, R-Ala, leads the pack. He renounces guest worker option for 12 million illegals. Of course, that number is a guess. No doubt higher.
Sessions calls on President Bush to back him up on all items. He blames politicians on sloppiness regarding immigration, for example, Kennedy and McCain wanting illeglas to get that famous “path to citizenship without returning to their home country or serving jail time.”
Sessions says certain politicians are more concerned about lawlessness than law-abiding. That’s the understatement of the decade.
Senator Arlen Specter says countries should be forced to take back illegals now in the US. He says the US should not give visas to countries not cooperating with this.
Sessions says he’s confident John McCain will support his bill.
Sen. Lindsey Graham said states should sign off on safe borders’ completions.
Of course, Sen. Ted Kennedy says the Senate is not interested in Sessions’ bill. Naturally.
“When asked about the prospect that the entire debate will be swallowed by the presidential campaign, Sessions asked, ‘What’s wrong with asking people to declare their views in an election year? When did that become improper?’” per FoxNews Trish Turner.
