JOHN HAGEE VS. POPE BENEDICT

John Hagee is known for preaching that the Roman Catholic Church is the Bad Guy in the End Times’ biblical prophetic interpretations.
The facts are that many other than TV preacher Hagee preach and teach the same. It’s just not on the TV screens in most cases.
So newsfeeds pick up on Hagee’s understanding, particularly of portions in the Book of Revelation relating to Rome. For that, he is considered biased and unkind.
Let it be recalled that the present Pope Benedict declared worldwide that those not Roman Catholic are out of the “only true church.”
Read for just one media coverage on this: “Catholic Church only true church, Vatican says” at http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/07/10/vatican-church.html
Then it’s tit for tat, isn’t it?
Hagee anti-Rome. Benedict anti-Protestant. And not only anti-Protestant but anti-Orthodox as well.
So who has a bias here? And who should the media go after?
Jesus counseled His own to be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” In this situation, perhaps Christians everywhere should take this to its practical level.

Actually, Pope Benedict XVI stated that the Orthodox are part of the true church as well.
I don’t see why it’s the same for the Pope to say “your setup is missing some things it should have, so it’s incomplete” and Hagee to call the Catholic Church “The Great Whore,” an “apostate church,” and the “anti-Christ.”
For all that I’d agree it’s silly to make bigotry the issue. There actually are apostate churches, and the question is whether the Catholic Church is one of them.
