Nor is it inconsistent with Christian values. As a Christian I believe that God views all sin as equally bad. Yet I do not believe that it is the government’s job to make all sin illegal. I think most Christians would agree that adultery (which includes lust in your heart), coveting thy neighbor’s possessions, gluttony, blasphemy of the Holy Ghost (an unforgivable sin), not remembering the Sabbath and keeping it Holy, and pre marital sex are sins. But I doubt that most Christians would have the Federal government pass laws to make these sins a crime. Can you imagine a judge making a decision on whether you coveted you neighbor’s positions? Liberal Christians don't care if abortion is illegal or not, they feel it is their duty to prevent this sin through the teaching of the Gospel. The women who have the procedure done, and the people who perform it seriously risk their immortal soul. Yet the babies that everybody who is concerned with goes straight to God. I think the Christian right is more in line with the teachings of the Gospels. One only need read the words of Christ to confirm this. The Beatitudes could be the Democratic Party’s official planks, and then there is that whole “he who is without sin cast the first stone” thing. No, I think Obama’s Jesus is the Jesus from the Gospels, and I think the Christian Right needs to reacquaint themselves with His teachings.
